Title: Just took the TGP apart.
Post by: TurboGTU on March 23, 2008, 02:53:12 AM
Well I think it was about time to take it apart. Whome ever did NitroDaves trans Jacked him good  :icon_evil: . I don't even think its a TGP trans anymore. The Torque converter is original , but the trans oil pump didn't have Turbo stamped on it. 4th was seazed, but the hub survied. The rest of the clutches were over heated. 3rd roller clutch (8 element  :icon_eek: ) granaded, leaving rollers all over the place. Input sprag survied but was about to let go. All the thrust washers were melted, and the roller washer between input sprag and  splanetary drives got destroyed and scratched the planets. Reaction shell looked like it was just reclocked to be reused and about to let go too. They didn't bother to change the CV axle seals and some seals  in the trans. Didn't even clean the valve body. Looks like a gasket and cluch job and go  :icon_mad: . Looked like it starved of oil due to the leaky seals and took out the trans. Not to mention Davy spraying it didn't help the badly built tranny.

I wanto make 100% sure, but Turbo is suppose to be stamped on the pump with INK? or ingraved?
Anyone got planets out of the TGP to see numbers on them to see if even the planets are original?

The engine side, well  the rear exhaust had a bolt broken off soit wasn't sealing from the x-over, coil packs were loose and not bolted right to the block. Seems like it needs a valve job BAD. Im taking her apart and installing bearings and gaskets. Getting heads rebuilt. Vin on block matches TGP vin so at least I know the block is original  :icon_cool: .

Pics latter.
