Title: ****SOLD**** White TSTE to Shifter23...he drove it home :-)
Post by: Bullet on April 11, 2008, 05:40:44 PM
The title was just recently changed over to my name do to short on cash funds
I don't want to sell her, but truth be told, I'd like to get my hands on a 2 door TGP to work on now.
I was going to ask for how much I've put into her plus how much I paid at time of purchase but I wont.
so I'm looking to get at least $1450 drive it home.

preferably trailer it but the car does drive and gets mid to upper 20's for MPGs. I've seen min of 19 and max of 31

120K
great interior (Grey Cloth)
power seats, 6 Speakers and 4 tweeters (10 total) and yes they all work!
power windows, locks, etc.

Pro's
- Trany serviced (New fliud/filter/pan gasket) as of 4/16/08
- I have the Turbo rebuild COMPLETE KIT + New Carbon Seal
- new Headlight housings
- new brakes from previous owner
- non-smoker
- frontseats are near mint, need to be cleaned a little in a couple half penny sized spots...but otherwise mint, headliner is mint!
- rear seats are MINT!
- inside of trunk is mint!
- New sensors - IAC, TPS, Crank, MAP, O2
- New steering wheel controls (bought used, but in great condition)
- New Dual headunit with remote (Installed)
- New speakers front and rear
- NO RUST on the underbody
- NO ACCIDENTS

Con's
- one of the hood scoops have a couple cracks in it,
and the front bumper signal area has a small crack in the plastic (barely noticeable/driver's side).
- Slight rust in the door wells
- paint is great but alont the fenders there are a lot of scratches from cloths brushing up on them... but only on the top edges.
- hood has 2 cracks in the paint on the front portion.
- X-OVER has a slight leak as all do, but doesn't affect driving around,
- ABS Anti-Lock only worked when turned on via switch on steering wheel. (Bad Brake Relay or Master Cylider)
- Oil gauge moves a lot but doesn't jump all over the place
- the small part of the steering colum right after the steering wheel: is missing (cowl I guess)
- Door panel holders that say "STE" on them have all popped apart from the doors
- driver's door panel window/lock panel is loose with no screws
- drivers outside door handle is missing part of the trim piece
- no sunroof  :icon_frown:

all "con's" can be fixed with a little time, money, and patience

I've put a lot of time and effort into her as some of you already know, but now that she's healthy I'd like her to go to a good home that will take care of her as I have. there are "NO LEAKS!"
the transmission works fine, but sometimes it doesn't want to shift. I took it to my friend whos a liscenced mechanic and he said that it could be that selenoid/valve thing next to the map sensor. I have no money left other wise I'd replace that to.
please PM me if you have any questions.

I will be adding pics of the engine and interior tomorrow.

Leather or cloth interior? Interior shots will help convince buyers.

I would love to have it as it sits. But I would have to transfer all my work on my TGP to it first. My custom x-over, injectors, and other various work.

And I am holding out for a maroon TSTE

New AC Acumalator
Retrofitted AC R134A
New 3800 injectors
K&N Air Filter
Jeff M Top Gun 160 Chip
180 Thermostat
New monroe SensaTrac struts
new Yokohama AS530 Tires
New front brakes (cals rotors pads)
New rear brakes (cals rotors pads)
Oil Dist Delete fixed
Relocated Coolant tank
New ECM
Working TGP CD Player
New X-over with heat wrap
New EGR return hose
New EGR Valve
New Map
New IAC
Custom HUD windsheild
New Fuel Pump
FFP Motor mounts
Replaced the mirrors with painted ones from a salvage yard.
Royal Purple Oil
Mobil 1 synthetic tranny fluiid and filter
DOHC Strut tower bar
AWeb Rear strut tower bar

Its red, with moonroof, and grey leather interior.. Not sure about the trade unless I can take my X-over, FFP motor mounts, and chip. Im not worried about your louvers, I have 4 more cherry louvers. The car does need work, mainly paint, and a slight body work on the tail end.

Car was recently apraised at 4000 dollars, as it sits.
Its been sitting in a inside storage facility for the last year now, up on blocks to keep the tires from flat spotting. Its quite a powerful car, and driving in inclimate weather can be a scary adventure. Also with gas prices, and me having 2 other cars, its just not practical to keep it insured and sitting in my driveway when it doesnt get driven. I go out to it once a month, and start it, and my ATV's, and let them all run up to operating temp, keep the fluids moving, etc. I would think about a trade, but there would definetly be some conditions. Not to mention, my wife would have to aprove. She loves the TGP, and has threatened to leave me if I sell it.

miles, runing condition?
any problems other than the body damage, which looks like it
could use a new paint job and the rear end fixed. but looks nice!!!
any rust anywhere?

117k miles if my memory is correct, runs excelent..
only problems I know is the ballasts in the seats dont work. I think its a wiring issue cause they will sometimes work, and you can hear the motor running.
No rust that I know of. Definetly could use a paint job. I replaced the hood from a TGP that had some 270k miles, same with the front bumper, and rear bumper

I'd prefer to figure out a way for your car to keep everything on it...x-over etc.
I might be able to borrow some cash, but not 100% sure.
let me think about it, I haven't seen many grey leather interiors but I had my heart set on tan.
keep in touch with me, and will figure something out.  ;)
Title: Re: FS/FT 1990 Mclaren STE Turbo $1700 tons of pics 'Trany just serviced'
Post by: Bullet on April 16, 2008, 02:56:12 PM
I just replaced the Transmission Fluid, Filter, and Pan Gasket.
the Pan was actually very clean, nothing was clinging to the magnetic strip, and there was no particles any where.

If you're wondering why I did this, it's because I had the stuff to do it and wanted to make the sale go faster.

$1650 for the car, or $1800 for the car with 4 American racing rims, I'll post pics in a little bit.

I need this gone!!

you could always take it to a paint shop...but yeah, original color adds to the rarity of the car.

just to add, I just drove the car and the transmission has never been so smooth. shifted almost better than my 99 GTP  :icon_biggrin:
smooth like butter...lol
