I normally get answers better and faster here so... lol
I need a new ignition in my 89 SE bad and fast. The key broke off in there tonight, although I "CAN" still drive the car, I don't wana risk getting stuck somewhere as it is getting stuck really bad. I was out there for like 10 min after I got home cuz I couldn't turn it back, I was gettin ready to disconnect the battery when I finally got it.
Now there is a 96 4 door GP at the yard with a key, I was going to grab that if I can't find an older one with a key... will it work or do I need an 88-93?
Why bother getting one from a junkyard. Get a brand new one from Autozone for 19 bucks. I did a write up on it too...

really, the 5spd ignition is $20 more... Why?
Not sure. Probly cause there wasnt that many of them built. Supply and demand maybe?

that's pretty much what I wanted to know... lol
I know, as Nick told me, there is a little button on there to release the key, but is that all?
Thats about it.
Ok, got it in with a lot of help from that write up, thanx a lot. It was kinda a bitch to get it back in, but now it works great, thanx!
a little late, but fwiw a 94+ ignition won't work in an older column. at least, i couldn't get one to go in. i like the 94+ key style better.
also, i got the 5 speed ignition cylinder off ebay dirt cheap. so if you want to switch over, might try there
ya, I didn't wanna wait on ebay, 2 days was fine, but now that I got the new bumper on the TGP, I hate driving it as a DD... roads around here suck
