OK, this car has been my daily driver for 4 ? years (and still is). It is still a reliable car but it needs some work and I don?t have time anymore to fix it. I would like it to go to someone who can appreciate the car?s potential.
First: The car is a 1990 red TGP Coupe with 166,XXX miles on it. It is located near Lansing, Michigan (48842). I am asking $800 for it. It has tan cloth interior.
Mods:
Topgun 160 chip and 160* thermostat
K&N open cone filter
No Cat
Turbo was rebuilt at 110,000 miles
Oil return line replaced
Replaced coil packs and ignition module
Air conditioning was retrofit to r134a but needs recharging
Rear struts were replaced
Optima red top battery is about 3 years old
Alternator replaced
Fuel pump replaced
Interior is in good shape
All gauges work except for oil pressure, HUD works
Power seats work fine
Sunroof works fine
Issues:
Still has stock crossover so it is cracked and causes the car to stall sometimes.
ABS pump cycles and light on dash is flashing
Turn signals don?t work due to a problem with the lever
Power antenna doesn?t go down completely
Front brake rotors are badly warped and need to be replaced
The cassette deck is broken but the radio works
Steering wheel radio controls don?t work
Runs well but does use some oil
Front end may need some work; it makes some popping noises sometimes
Will need tires soon
Power mirror on driver?s side won?t move with power in the ?up? direction
Cruise control doesn?t work
I had to remove the front lower valance a few months ago after driving through a big snow finally ripped it in half
Paint has normal fading for its age and clearcoat is coming off the fender flares
There is some minor surface rust in a few spots but no other body damage to speak of.
Whole car needs a good cleaning, inside and out
That?s all I can think of right now. I have tried to represent the car as accurately as possible so there are no disappointments.
I do have some more pictures if you are interested.
Could you please post the VIN(vehicle identification number) for your TGP? I'm keeping a registry/database of all the TGP's I can come across. ;) Thanks in advance and good luck selling the car.
How many TGP do you think are left and what info do you need. I can give you a lot of history on my TGP
I mainly just need your VIN number, your first post and those pictures answered my other questions already. I usually ask for the following when adding a TGP to my database info:
1. Model year
2. Exterior color
3. Interior color
4. Interior Material(leather or cloth)
5. Sunroof or no sunroof
6. Factory cassette player or factory optional CD player
7. Current mileage
Besides those things, a "build date" would be nice. It's listed on the ASC sticker on the driver's side door(jamb area).
FWIW guys this is my dads car. Car is actually in decent overall condition for a TGP, just has the usual problems they all do (brakes, crossover, valance). Like he said, this has been his daily driver for 4.5 years and really hasn't given him any problems. Other than the normal stuff he replaced (all the stuff he listed, alt, fuel pump, struts, etc...), it has been very reliable for him. I'm sure there is someone here who could make it a very nice car pretty easily.
OK I lowered the price to $800. Car really needs to go.
I got to purchase this beastly, pretty nice car really outside of the interior falling apart (which is GM build materials versus abuse) and the poor idle (which the missing 160 chip addressed) and the need of a crossover pipe.
I bought it for $700.00 so I am not pissed that Steve did noit leave the chip in but had I known it was not there I would have offerred $650.00.
Oh well.
This weekend will involve putting brakes on it all around and starting the daunting task of cleaning it.

Well, seeing that you bought the car off of Craigs list, not this forum, which made no mention of any performance parts at all and you didn't ask any questions about it, I didn't see any need to mention it. As far as I knew you didn't know what a top gun 160 chip was. I still think you got a good deal and I know where you can get a good deal on a chip if you want one. :icon_wink: I also have a different DIC for the console, which is in much better shape, if you are interested.

Really?
QuoteReally?
this is how the add on Craig's list read:
1990 Turbo Grand Prix. $850
1990 Turbo Grand Prix. This car is 1 of only 3750 of its kind made. It needs front brakes to be driveable. I don't have time to fix it.
Nothing was misrepresented, it could have been my other TGP, he never asked. There is nothing more to be said on this matter.
I believe there is......karma will catch up with you, be careful who you try to play a fast one on it might bite you back one day.......oh and I for one will never buy anything from you seeing this has been your additude.
