Title: lack of power, when i step on the gas
Post by: harris george on November 12, 2002, 02:55:45 PM
I replaced the fuel pump, spark plugs and took the plenum off, and then replaced the gasket and started driving my baby again.  When I step on the gas real hard it boggs and if I step on it light it drives pretty good.  IT almost stumbles and sounds like it putting along , when it starts instead of a nice spoooling sound .  I want to know , how do you know if its a waste gate problem or a leaky valve line or what ......help

its probaly not it, but my car would die if you stepped on the gas, it was a faulty coolant sensor

That sounds like what happens with my car. The thing keeps cutting out at wide open throttle. I am in the process of all the same things you just did. Because the more things that you upgrade or replace at once, the more isolated your problem will be. That is why I am doing a list of things including vacuum harness, throttle pos. sensor, Iridium plugs, spiral core wires, ignition coils, injectors, and more.

The last time I drove my car, the problems kept getting progressively worse and I barely made it home. First time it cut out I was flooring it at high speeds and it was almost like I hit something, then it started doing it anytime the boost gauge went above half way, and after that it would cut out anytime you touch the gas.
