Title: Lower Intake question
Post by: grinders_18 on July 01, 2008, 10:58:49 AM
Just curious, but I'm beginning to build a project engine for fun, and I'm curious what year 3.1 lower intake manifolds will work with the TGP upper manifold?

It depends which year TGP upper intake manifold you have.  If you have an 89 UIM, you will need to get an 88-89 lower intake manifold.

If you have a 90 TGP UIM, the 90-93 lower intake manifolds will work fine.

odd I have a 88 lim and am running a 90 tgp uim with no issues.  The only thing you have to do is cap off the pcv line on the UIM 88-89 has the pcv line going to the lim.  That is the only difference I am aware of.

Thats why I said that.  The 88-89 cars have a different PCV setup than the 90-93s.

the bolts are different. if u get a newer lim the bolts wont fit thru the older uim. the threads on the newer lims are different and have spacers on them - the holes on the older uims are too small to fit the spacer.

then again, i have a '90 turbo manifold and a '92 lim so i dont know how the differences run year-wise.

Pretty sure the ones you're referring to that have the bolt spacers started in 1991(and went through 93).
