idk, but be very careful, that 20 year old key will easilly break off in there, I just went through that with my 89.

Try tapping the gear shift on the side, or sliding the snakehead/T-Bar shifter peice off. The thing you need is to get that button to pop out so you can remove your key. Does it pop out if other gears?

Hey Im usually not the type of guy to GET A BIGGER HAMMER. At least without  checking things out first but in this case it worked a couple of taps on the shifter and it popped back out It still sticks but at least I know that a rap on it will free it up. I will have to see if it is getting hung up on the leather handle or if it is a mechanical problem further down.
NOW what I really need to do is get at my other TGP to get the neutral safety switch adjusted right.

Just a thought, but couldn't you get some WD-40, and using the tube sprayer spray a little bit behind the button? Should be enough room to slide the straw in there...

I had that happen, remove the center consol, so you expose the shifter assembly, and youll see there is a cable that actuated the key lock, i ended up having to undo it so it would always be in the unlock position because my shifter assembly broke somewhere.
