Title: Open Element IAT Sensor
Post by: TGed on July 15, 2008, 01:15:23 AM
I am looking for an GM Open Element IAT Sensor, but every parts place around here doesn't stock this type.  They only have the sealed type.  I know the sealed type are laggy for displaying actual readings. but how bad are they?  Would you opt for the sealed version if they can be bought very very cheap and really easily or would you hold out for the correct open element type?
Who (online or common parts store) stocks the GM Open Element IAT Sensor all the time (usually) ?
I can buy the sealed ones for about 7.00 and have it same day ready to be installed.  I will not pay over 18.00 for a new Open Element IAT Sensor.  If anything, I'll go junkyarding for one and end up with a used one for 2.00.

I have a premeditated trip planned out for the junk trip so I will pick up a open element type.  I would like to know why there are two different style sensors when the open element type seems like a better design.???
