Well I am posting some problems here since on w-body all people like to do is derail every single topic and totally forget what the topic was about.
First off, my speedometer has been off. It jumps around, much more noticably on the HUD than the dash, it jumps up and down within about 10 mph of actual speed. This started after the last time I took it to the track, so I am thinking maybe my speed sensor got loose or something possibly, but I don't know how to deal with that.
Second, I think I might be getting overboost. I was drivin the other day and I put it to the floor tryin to follow my friends firehawk and the boost spiked and the car seemed to shake a little bit and did accelerate, but not like it should, but still faster than a NA 3.1. All I have is the topgun 180, filter cone and 302 injectors done to the car.
Third, nothing big, but my sunroof doesn't stop when it should, when you close it it just keeps goin then just the back flips up, that is probably just that little switch on the drivers side that you can see when it's open right?
The past couple times I have driven the car, it just plain old doesn't feel right, it's kinda hard to explain, but you guys know when you know a car, you can just feel something isn't right with it. It's kinda hard to explain, but I am thinkin of takin it off the road til I can really figure out what is going on with it. I haven't checked in a couple weeks, but last time I checked my turbo, it was solid, no extra play or anything.
cant help you with the speedo issue, the speedo in the dash read WAY too high on both my tgps, then again my Huds have never acted up. For your boost issue, make sure vaccuum lines are tight on wastegate solenoid, if its original, it could go bad from being hammerd on with that topgun chip. mine went bad and the car wouldnt boost as high as it should have and would ocassionally spike and piss the map sensor off, does it feel like the car is boosting lower than usual? Do topgun chips even have boost cutoff? If you dont already have one i suggest getting an aftermarket boost gauge and a cheap a/f guage at the least to see whats really going on when it acts up.
You could be right about the speedo sensor, if both the hud and the cluster are off then the common cluster short is probably not it. Boosting can be related to many things, but like Ike said if your stock boost solinoid is f'ed up it could be venting off the boost when you don't want it to. I would check the turbo shaft play and if you have the means just hook up a regular vac line from the turbo to the wastegate actuator, you will only make like 4 psi with the stock actuator but it might help you by seeing if the symptoms change.
sunroof? have no idea about that one :icon_frown: Don't get too discouraged.......these are the little things that happen to these 18-19 year old cars ;)

k i'll check that stuff, I should also mention that while my speedo is acting up and I try to set cruise control, the car jumps and bucks a lot as it tries to keep up with the inaccurate speed.
when these cars were new i remember the speedo and the hud reading different. the hud reads right on according to my tech 1 but the speedo reads a few miles higher. it always has and i had specmo check out the cluster when i had them try to fix the low fuel light.
ya, this is a totally different issue than that, it is just reading way off like my speed sensor may be loose. Is that something that is easy to access?
vss is one the tail shaft on transaxle, should be able to see it from pass. side. purple and yellow wires from sensor, look below alternator to see vss
Now the sunroof that I pulled off a 93 GTP was still an ASC sunroof, But after talking to TGP nick they're were a little difference between the two. My question to you, when you press the button to close, do you have to hold the button down untill it closes or can you press the button one quick time and it closes on its own.
cool, thanx for the info on the vss... and with the sunroof, I have to hold the button the entire time.

x2. You have to hold it down.
Then the only thing I can tell you is either you loss connection to the internal stop sensor or it is the sensor.
ok thanx, it's been nothing but rain here for the past week and a half so I haven't had a chance to look at anything. I was hoping it was just a loose sensor, cuz a couple times I drove it it was fine, it seemed to only happen if I was a little hard on the gas it would act up again.
From what I remember those speedo gears might be plastic? Sometimes they get munched up. Your speedo sending unit could be bad too. Some of the tuning tables are based on vehicle speed (especially with the automatic) I would attack the speedo issue first and get that resolved, it may fix your other problems. Like I said in my other post I have a data log cable and laptop we could hook it up to the car and go for a drive and see if it is a cluster problem or not. You might want to come down here for a visit with it for a day, I have lots of spare parts we could try to figure it out, gauge clusters, computers and all the sensors I have spares of.
Ken
ok well I will see what I am doin next weekend, maybe I could do that, if not I would like to come the 16th, it's not that far.
But the reason I am thinking it is NOT the cluster itself is because my cruise control acts all eratic while it is doing this which makes me think it is the VSS or something along those lines.
