im new well no im not new to engines but im new to learn more abt FI..... whats stock size lbs on TGP? and can upgrade it to bigger lbs as it got a turbo alreeady?? im sure will need a chip to modify, good idea to increase size of lbs? im curious
Stock injectors are 22lbs/hr. There's no need to upgrade the injectors unless you do other modifications that will require a lot more fuel. The stock injectors are plenty capable of supporting a lot more power than a bone stock TGP makes. By the way, you're correct that chip tuning will be needed if you upgrade the injectors.
i am in the thirst of more power in engine, i dont like stocks but yeah its pretty much fast already but i want more.. chip should make turbo go to 12.5 PSI, then injectors need increasin or repalcing new ones?? id like to incurease as much as i can u kno.. tips r needed haha
and also what other kinds of modifications that requires more lbs on FI? since it already got a turbo..

You should be able to put down 250WHP pretty easy with a slightly modded TGP. The most overlooked part of these cars is the tiny exhaust system, a free flowing system is a must. Next is heat :icon_twisted: the under hood temps get pretty stout on a TGP, just a few degrees cooler makes a HUGE difference ;) The stock injectors and pump are good for 260-280 WHP but the design of the injectors suck and they are prone to clogging(especially with the crappy fuel we get now) A chip will enable you to utilize a 160 stat and unleash a few extra ponies and also is a must to get rid of the boost cut at 8.36lbs...
Definately what he said. If you get a chip... just a chip you will be very surprised and not disappointed. Exhaust and headers are my plan for next year, but a great... cheap and easy start would be a chip and also the Ford C302 injectors, a lot of us have them and love them.
yeah but i hear that 160 degree thermosat isnt a good idea, it will shorten engine life by x5.. where can i find forc C302 injectors? and the headers? heard Jeff M make the best headers? and whats the chip u would recoomend me to buy? wot tech? wbodystore? or from jeff m? i need a guide lines to buy the good kinds haha
also thanks for the tips man

Adam (Flybynite) makes chips and has run some respectible times with them. Jeff MMMMMM yeah you can buy his stuff if he is still doing it. Kenny K from KAZ motorsports sells them too. You can also PM Invasion 1 too I think some guys are running his stuff. Me I worked with Adam on my car and ended up learning to tune myself since my car is such a unique setup.
160 stat is not going to reduce the life of your engine by 5X that is just rediculous, what it will do is make your engine run colder and decrease your fuel economy a bit. But these things are so hot I can't see it being a bad thing to run it cooler, besides a 160 stat does not mean your engine will maintain 160 F , that is just the opening temperature of the stat, the engine will actually run 170-175 depending on when you set your fans.
I am using bosch type 3 injectors with an EV1 connector from a 01 LS1 Trans am which are 28 lbs/hr. You can get Bosch Type 3 injectors in 22lbs/hour on ebay with the EV1 connector for under $200. You want the EV1 connector because it plugs into the wire harness you have stock.
Have Fun
Ken
"Invasion1" aka Dave is no longer in the chip making business. I bought all his tuning stuff. In fact he has diasppeared all together from the w-body world.
Anyways, like Cobra said, talk to Adam or Kenny and you won't be disappointed when it comes to a chip from either of these guys!
Hey boss what kinda turbo did you say you upgraded to?

Good, maybe now I can send a swift kick via USPS to his Canadian ass for abandoning me and my chip tuning in capabilities
-Jeff M. never made headers to sell and no longer makes anything for these cars.
-Just dropping in a 160* thermostat I believe makes the car run poorly, I forget the reasons why. The computer probably dumps more fuel in because it thinks the engine isn't getting up to temp.
-As said, stock injectors are all you will likely ever need will a stock turbo, but there are better designs out there without going bigger, and the stockers have probably seen better days by now anyway.
-The stock turbo isn't much good at 12 PSI, it's basically just pumping more heat into the air. It can't move enough volume at that pressure.
I see the newest registered member is "Invasion1" I guess he's back!
where the heck is motorhead now
MOTORHEAD, are you the one from Monticello, MN? If so, it's Krenzy, from 60degreev6, down in New Ulm.
Glad to see you here!
sorry everybody i was busy putting more miles on my TGP :icon_rolleyes:
KRENZY- yes im the guy from Monticello, i know u krenzy man haha
160 degree= are u sure it wouldnt wear down the engine x5? i saw it off the websiite- well it was on old w-body page but its not in new page anymore. maybe it effect only on 3.4 DOHC? anyways im going to get 160 soon...
heck where can i get FORD C302 injectors??? im not sure which to use bosch 3 or c302??
for turbo upgrade.. should i drop in T-28 instead or? haha im still new w increasing injectors.. IF i buy the C302 now and install in without upgrading the chip is bad idea? so im guess for now that i better buy the stuff to upgrade and do it same time with the chip eh?
Pretty much everyone here runs 160* t-stats with no adverse effects. ;)
Motorhead, did you buy that $599 TGP that was for sale in MN(on craigslist about a month ago)?
Five- O fuel injectors (562) 867-4999 ask for Bruce . set of 6 yellow tops should run you about 250 bucks. they work great i had them last year... till i upgraded to 30s with my 3400 topend. Any route you go, someone here can help you get everything you need... depends on how far you want to go with it and how fast.
alright then t-sats s no problem for me now, thanks everybody
mfewtrail- YES got it for 500 instead and ends up its the turbo drain oil tube problem. still needing to buy new one but cudnt find anywhere else. ITS GREAT DEAL!!!! hook me up i can send u the photos. are u from minn, i mean how d u find this on CL>?
grandprixagain - going the farthest on it as possible but am thinkign to drop in 3.4 dohc w turbo set up w either 282 or 284 w body tranny
im doing the mods for now, JUST MAYBE if i plan to drop in 3.4 it ll take me some time to build 3.4 dohc then so..
No, I'm not from MN. The car was posted on this board about a month(or longer) ago. I also search craigslist via crazedlist.org for TGP's every now and then. I currently try to find all of them that I can to get the VIN's and other information from them for the database/registry I'm creating.
ohhhhhh i seee.... do u need any of VIN off my TGP or>? lmk, u prolly already had it off from him

If you're in the market for standard sized injectors, buy them
HERE.

That is pretty much the cheapest price you'll ever find for a brand new set of yellow/orange top Ford injectors. Just so you know MOTORHEAD(post your first name so we don't have to call you that!), the Ford 19lb injectors are about the same exact size as our stock injectors. Ford rates injectors at a lower pressure, that's why they list the 19lb rating there. I've personally had some flow tested and they flow almost exactly the same as our stock injectors.
haha call me NJ
wellll i cant afford em right now but soon ill get em this winter or before. im thinking to get a 97-03 GTP injectors. 36 lbs
You will need a tune if you run the GTP injectors.
Your better off getting Lincon 32valve 4.6l injectors at 24lbs stock. At our fuel pressure its about 25. GTPs need too much tunning.
what a steal...
welll.. too much tuning, it d be worth it in end right eh? fuel pressure.... whats it do exactly? fuel pump or>? id do anything almost to top it out at max
Maybe a bit off topic but, i put a MBC on mine and the A/F gauge reads lean like really lean, it has an aftermaket boost gague and it reads about 12 to 13 when i really get on it. have had the fuel shut off when the gauge reads about 15. Are the gauges lying or am i burning holes in my pistons? what should i do to correct this?
Dude stock tunes are fat but not fat enought to run 15 psi!!!!! Turn that down you are detonating the shit out that engine. You have to tune it, talks to Flybynite, Invasion1 or TGPilot if you want to do this stuff and get a tune and bigger injectors! Don't blow up another tgp!
10-4. Chip and a tune. Just doesnt seem right. turned it down today and the A/F gauge still reads lean when i get on it only at about 8 to 9 pounds. I think the gauge is handicaped or something. going to turn it down more and see if that helps. or maybe just hook up the factory boost controller.
Are you runnign a stock chip? Stock boost cutoff is around 8.5 psi... the stock boost gauge is inaccurate and will make you think your running 15 pounds... what kind of a/f guage do you have?
