Title: gen3 hybrid TGP Progress
Post by: killinprixs on August 22, 2008, 02:28:20 PM
Finally making more progress on this thing...  Adams been doing a bunch of stuff to the chip , should be here any day, cant wait...  All i need now is a wideband and ALdL cable.   IM also taking the car to AMMCO transmission next week to get the subframe bushings replaced... 220 bucks with parts cant beat that, the dealer wanted 550!

Today i did a few things,  apparently the oil pump shaft O-ring was leaking already so i changed that, use a little bit of sealer to make sure, now im working on making the engine bay cooler , wrapped the crossover and lower IC pipe, found a downpipe blanket i think Adam gave me a long time ago.... i did a few other things too like replaced the headlights with nice ones : ) took a few pics cause it was such a nice day...

Lookin good Ike   ;)    Your chip should arrive tomorrow or Monday. Since your trying to keep things a bit cooler you should do the A/C fin mod and use paint stripper on the intercooler. That will help lots.... later dude

Nice Ike I'm jealous of your top end!  Hey just a little secret next time you do the oil pump drive seal get a distributor drive gasket from say an 1988 camaro with a 305 or 350 from the dealer.  It goes between the face of the oil pump drive and the block........if that o-ring dries out the distributor gasket will back it up and prevent leaking.......I think it is how most of the twin cam guys fix their oil pump drive seals without pulling the rear head........  Good luck with the tuning it is going to be sweet!

Ken

Ike, you would be better off if you installed the 5 speed in this car. Your auto is not going to like the upgraded turbo...

thanks guys,  oh it wont leak this time Ken, i made sure of that.  I did one on a ladys cutlass last week that was leaking bad and turns out there was NOTHIGN between the face and the block... the car looked all original , im thinking, is GM that stupid? I hope not...   Adam, i dont want to break my 5 speed man thats gotta go in the DD so i can have fun and not have to put a ton of miles on the frankenstein.  OH yea,  Im going to meet a guy with a bunch of garrett T03 volvo turbos in good working condition,  whats the deal with these?
