Title: Transmission woes...
Post by: Shifter23 on August 25, 2008, 11:12:08 PM
Car #1 1990 TSTE

Car runs and drives fine but anything other than light normal throttle, the car slips in all gears.  Not sure what to do could it be a TV pressure issue or possible wrong vaccum modulator?  (vaccum line is hooked up)

Car#2  1990 TGP

Car runs and drives but sounds like a possible pump failure i think idk.  It hums at idle in park and neutral and gets worse when put into a drive gear.  Slips in lower gears unless light-footed.  Fluid level is ok and modulator is hooked up but has a vaccum tee spliced in it for another accessory i think i just got the car.

The modulator Tee you're referring to is necessary. On the left side, there should be a vac line coming down from the throttle body (begins as a steel line), connecting to the tee, and the right side needs to be open for release...there should be nothing connected to it.

This is on ALL TGP's and TSTE's.

Fix the vac line and get an adjustable vacuum modulator to get the line pressure up, oh and change the fluid and filter.......
