Title: TGP in Canada
Post by: maxlap21 on September 29, 2008, 11:10:37 PM
Hi I'm a new owner of a beautiful 89 red TGP and I'm already falling in love. Anyways I was curious to know if they were many TGPs in Canada. Mine is from California. Also, were TGPs ever sold in Canada from dealerships?

Maxime

There are a few members here that have imported TGP's to Canada. They weren't ever sold in Canada from dealerships(according to info from members here). I remember a few years back, a guy had trouble getting his car imported or either insured in some part of Canada.

By the way, welcome to the board. ;)

I don't believe it is dogbone's TGP. Mine is from California although that was over a year ago. It's been in Canada for about one year according to the Ontario's vehicle history.

Thanks for the info mfewtrail, as well as the welcome.

Hey, maxlap21, I'm located in Kitchener, Ontario and have a black 90 TGP. Where are you located?

I'm in Navan/Vars somewhere in between. Is your TGP stock?

My insurance recognized it as a Grand Prix LE... go figure

minor bolt ons engine wise, suspension is pretty modded.

Runs a 14.6 @ 95

Mine also ended up getting registered as a LE

Where exactly is Navan / Vars.....close to what major center?

Oh sorry I was thinking you were somewhere else closer (Kenmore). It's just outside of Ottawa.

14.6 sound pretty sweet!

if you are just outside Ottawa, thats gotta be dogbone's old car. A member named Kyle (Bake82) imported it to Canada. He's working on 88 Cutlass with a turbo 3.1 swap.

You are right, I'm looking at the vehicle history and the first name on the list is Kyle Baker. Any bad word about this car? Since Kyle registered the car, only 4 miles were put on it and 4 owners.

Matt, I'm still thinking of a different member. Some guy here had issues getting his car imported due to safety information not being available for the cars or some bullshit like that. I can't seem to find the posts from that guy, but I think this was around 4-5 years ago.

I think Alex? (dogbone) did a fair bit of work to it to get it in good running shape.

Kyle imported it from PA iirc.

:icon_redface: :icon_redface: :icon_redface:  I bought that car to use as parts for my Turbo CS project.  I then found a deal on another car and sold the red TGP to Joey who then sold it to his dad and now has sold it to you.

I drove it from Pennsylvannia in early Dec 06 and then parked it in my back yard for the winter, and then sold it Joey in April/May of 07.  I only drove it for about 10 miles. The GF got to drive it up from PA.  It was a good car and I know Joey and his dad did alot of work to it to bring it to it's current state.

that's all I know about it.  But the front valance on it is from  "GOT2BGM" tgp!

We should meet up next yr when my CS is running.  have our own Turbo w-body meet!

Guess Maxime decided to sell the TGP.  Saw it posted on local classifieds. That car is being passed around more than a street girl!!

Good luck with the sale.  But I'm wondering if I cursed the car by bringing it up here?
