Just curious what you guts think... Out of all the TGPs produced in 89-90, How many are left? Out of them, How many are in mint condition? I would say 40% have been parted and less than 10% are mint....
I know of at least one

like 400? you guys have all the nices ones!
Alot of us built them up to be nice. Mine wasn't a shitpile when I got it, but it was far from showcar...barely even a daily driver.
ALOT of time, money, money and time and she was a beauty.
I'm guessing about 70% are still around and that less than 1% of them are truely in "mint" condition.
Since we're discussing this, I'll post the "supposed" production numbers.
1989 TGP's - 750(375 red, 375 black)
1990 TGP's - 2,725 (no color breakdown available)
1990 TSTE's - 1,000 (no color breakdown available).
I say supposed, because nobody has been able to prove one way or the other. The 1989 figures are pretty accurate or at least CLOSE though as a member on here discovered 729 1989 TGP vin numbers with a program that tried vin numbers on either carfax or autocheck's website if I remember correctly. I hope he gets that program working again as that would get us a lot closer to knowing actual production figures.
For what it's worth, I have collected 270 VIN numbers in the past year.
I, myself, have seen 4 TGPs (including one I parted out), and a TSTE (which I originally wanted the motor out of for the AWD 6000 prior to buying any McLarens; was gone already when I went back the following weekend with some help to pull it) in the junkyards. Another buddy of mine on the east coast has come across 3 or 4, also. With only a grand total of around 3,500 TGPs, and 1,000 TSTEs built, I can't imagine there are very many left.
Just in the last week I have found some very nice mint TGPs, They are definitly over priced but they are still around.. There is one within a few miles from me... Black/tan sunroof and cd To bad its not for sale, but I did sell him a chip... ;)
I've personally seen 2 red TGPs and 1 black TGP. That is not counting mine and Kyle's old 89. I'd venture a guess that about half of them are gone now. :icon_frown:
I see enough parts on ebay to suspect they are all turning into daily drivers until the maintenance costs send them to craigs list or the junk yards. I'm with Adam, someday these cars will be worth more than they are now, but will they achieve GN or GNX status? Who knows. All I know is I love the one I have and will be hanging on to it regardless of value. I just feel for those who bought these new spending upwards of 25k on them, never driving them only for them to be worth < 5k today. If that happens to my cobra I will cry :icon_cry:
