Well got the old girl inspected today. Only issue that I saw was passanger out CV boot ripped, and the 2 rubber donuts on the exhaust hangers missing( i never put them on).
But all in all everything that I have done over the past 3 years she is good to go. So later this week in the freezing cold I am replacing a CV boot. WooHooo.
Brings up the winter subject what are you doing this winter to your TGP?
Congrats!
I get to back mine out of the garage and start it in 2 weeks. Its going to be way too cold to do much work on it.
This will not be a TGP project, but will be a winter/spring project FWD GM streetable/DD OBD1 nonetheless.
Fuel Cell with new lines
Cut out spare tire well and weld in sheet metal
Install new rocker panel and re do all brake lines (thinking Braided SS instead of hardline, have yet to decide)
Swap in better valve springs that I've had laying around for a loong time.
Port LIM and UIM
Clean up wiring (maybe, eh)
Rebuild the trans on the shelf with red eagle and alto parts. (gearing is set to where I want it)
Figure out what to do for the trans pump... bah humbug
Experiment with exhaust to gain that "certain" note that I am looking for.
Retune compensating for 20+ psi
Cross fingers and hope for the best.
Wow sounds like fun time for you Tged. Wish I had a garage I would be tearing into both my grand prix, but I can only do so much outside. My plans fr the TGP are.
- drop fuel tank and replace everything inside and possibly the tank its self
- see why moonroof doesnt go back, and above 70 it breaks its seal and you hear air coming in
- Springtime I want to finish the body work and paint it.
- Oh and with that comes the dreaded crossover that leaks
All my work will be being done either out in the elements or possibly in a portagarage. I have to leave the garage open for any "paying" projects that may roll in.
I really hate not having a garage that I can work in. I use to have a carport that I tarped off and had a torpedo heater in it, but I moved and gave it all away.
My winter projects on the Turbo cutlass are soon coming to an end, which will then begin again in April/May.
I took out the car alarm the other day it was giving me issues with starting and I couldn't fix it, so I said screw it.
Replaced the old steering column with a "new" one from my parts 88 Cutlass. Fixed my power issues.
In the middle of changing the oil and filter in order to start it up for the first time in over a year and then drive it into the enclosed trailer to hibernate until April.
In April I got to do the following.
-Replace carpet
-install bracket on Clutch master cylinder to ensure it does not pop out(since I drilled out the firewall plate to fit the CMC in)
-Finish up wiring in gauges
-Install RSTB
-have new catalytic Converter installed
-have new 2.5 inch downpipe installed
-have exhaust hangers shortened to bring it tighter to the rear bumper as it sits way too low right now
-Since it's sat for a year and a half, probably re-do rear brakes at which point I will install the 94+ rear brakes I have.
Oh yah..and FINALLY ENJOY driving my 5spd turbo 3.1 Cutlass! WOOT!

what are you doing this winter to your TGP?
Not much, besides driving 'em.
Black TGP:
-almost due for an oil change
-wash/wax/detail.
-fix hood louver mounting stud. Both of the front ones broke off of the pass side louver. Seems to be common as it happened to my Red TGP as well. I fixed the louver on the red car a while back. It's held up to the hood being shut 20-25 times so far. :icon_mrgreen: If anyone has this same issue and wants to know how I fixed them, PM me or start a new post about this issue.
Red TGP-oil change is about due on it also
-plug holes in the license plate bracket holes in the front bumper. I'll make a post about this soon.
-wash/wax/detail
-replace trans cooler line @ auxillary cooler, it's started dripping since it's gotten cold here.
I'm probably forgetting a few things...
New Spring time plans
R&R motor to replace oil pan, all oil and coolant lines for turbo. Causing me to have SMALL oil leaks, and I'm not dropping the subframe again to take off the oil pan!!!!!!!
My car has a oil pan leak too, but its not to bad yet. Saturday my P.S pump decided to shot fluid all over my engine. 20 miles from home. But as stupid as it sounds the only thing I left in my trunk from my 3 year project on this car and a total engine swap in my cousins Z24(2.8 to 3.1 turbo) was the PS pump off the other turbo engine. What kind of luck was that.LOL. Put a remote start in it last week, fixed my 1 back speaker, but thats about it, just enjoying drive it for a change instead of looking at it and dreaming.

Lets see I'm going to do the following to the TGP probably in the spring:
-New used headliner out of a 93 tan coupe modified for sunroof
-Do the RKE box solder trick
-Do the low fuel light solder trick
-Replace the sunroof gasket
-Strip and repaint my spare crosslace wheels and polish the lip to a mirror shine, then put them on the tgp
-Replace the AC compressor and recharge it.
-Find a new front valance that is not torn or beat up to much and paint it.
-Wash and detail with my PorterCable
Drive it!
