Title: A real stock replacement Turbo
Post by: cobracmdr on February 04, 2009, 11:55:35 AM
Ok guys the turbo on my TGP is pushing some oil and has some sloppy clearances.  From what I have been told from Adam the T-25 series turbos are really being phased out and getting parts for them is going to be increasingly hard.  My car is not a drag car, it is quick stocker and I hope to keep it that way.  That being said I have been specing out a suitable stock replacement GT series turbo which I won't have to upgrade the fuel system and do a lot of programming (even though we all know I can)  This is what I'm going to go with I think (never know  ;))

GT2554R

It is basically the same trim and wheels sizes as the stock T25 only it has that goofy 3 bolt compressor outlet flange which you can get an adapter for here:

and from my other posts on how to hook up to the stock oil and coolant feed lines this should be a snap.  I'll let you guys know if I go with this one.  They are about $900 bucks new.

I really like the off idle response of the smaller turbo, that is something I missed with my GT2871R.  What do you all think?

What about the T28?

I know there are bigger options but I was trying to look for something to keep this thing somewhat stock.  I have blown up enough 2.8's and 3.1's to know that the way I drive these cars they don't last with too many mods   I have a bit of a lead foot!

Yes a T28 would work too I think but I'm going to buy G2BGM's turbo so I think I found the solution.
