The day I got my TGP I noticed it had the EGR Vacuum Solonoid but there were no vacuum hoses anywhere to be found and I do not know where they go... does anybody know where the vacuum hoses route from the solonoid? plese help!!!
I have a feeling you may be mistaking the vacuum solenoid for the wastegate solenoid. The EGR has an integrated regulator and only one vacuum line goes from it to the top of the throttle body. There should be a label on the front of the engine bay that has the vacuum hose routing.
Chris
Okay...it is the wasegate solenoid(My Bad) but i still need to know where the vacuum lines go....I see the sticker under the hood but its hard to read can you just tell me where the vacuum lines go...there is like 3 ports. please help!
Sean Lucas
Its ok, I didn't know what you needed :) now i do!
There was a picture somewhere of the routing.
The single port goes too the wastegate solenoid. The gold can on top of the turbo.
One of the dual ports should have a clip or a piece of foam on it. This one is left open. The other one goes to the nipple on the turbo outlet.
Chris
Man thanks your a life saver! who ever had the car before me had the wastgate solenoid's vacuum lines unpluged and ran a straight peice of hose from the gold can to the nipple on the turbo.
thanks Sean Lucas
thats why your car doesn't have any power, its not making more than maybe 3 or 4 lbs of boost!
Chris
well i put the vacuum hoses where you said and i feel no differance but i'm sure it's better than where it was. my car still is running funny like i have a lack of power somewhere. i dont know what it is. my boost gauge still stays at 0 and below. I just dont know man!!! This car is pissing me off!!! Its like there is always some problem. i sure hope somebody can help me figure this out!!! Thanks!!! Sean Lucas
the other thing to do is check the hoses from the top of the throttle body back to the map sensor. These blow off commonly and also can crack under the intake. Run down the vac lines and the ic hoses to see if its leaking boost somewhere
Hey Chris,
Just to go over the routing of those hoses. On my car, from that single port the line goes to the wastegate solonoid. On the dual side of it, One side has the foam on it. The other side of it goes to the set up where there is a vacuum line from the trans modulator and to a check valve and the steel vacuum line that routes up to the throttle body. I have a cap on the nipple from the turbo. Is that correct or should it be changed to your described method. Remeber also, my car is the one that is overboosting and cutting out with the SES light coming on.
The lines that consist of the wastegate actuator loop (as I like to call it  ) go from the small nipple on the side of the turbo up and over to the solenoid that is mounted on the front valve cover stud. This line will go to the lower port of the two on the left side of the solenoid. From the right side of the solenoid (one nipple side) it will run a line to the waste gate actuator. This is the little gold colored (if new) can that has the rod coming out of it... 8)
Thanks for the quick response Kenny,
I got excited about that one and went outside and switched them up real quick. Didn't get a chance to do a test drive. I guess I will do that one pon the way home. I did start it up and it seemed to idle fine. Just one question though. I now have one connection to the check valve that is open now. should I go ahead and close it off, or should I just leave it open?
Barry
Well when you are at the vacuum modulator on the tranny you should have a "T" fitting that runs from the throttle body nipple to the vacuum modulator. In that loop you should have an open end on the "T" fitting as this vents pressure away from the modulator. Leave it open... 8)
The wastegate actuator loop and the vacuum modulator for the tranny are two very seperate vacuum loops. One does not tie into the other!! 8)
