Hi there guys. I know I'm new here and I haven't really posted much, so I figured I'd introduce myself (and my car) to the board! I'm Shaun, and most of you know me from W-body as digitaloutsider. I got my first car in 2004 from my dad as a hand-me-down: A 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix LE sedan. It was strangely loaded for an LE with the full rally cluster, cassette with premium 6-speaker audio, 4T60, power bench, power antenna, power mirrors, power locks, power mirrors, and security lighting. I modded that car the best a 15-year-old could do. With help from Dave Wood (Gearhead43), I installed the Z7M front bumper (fog lights) along with AQ9s, VFD DIC and console shifting. Eventually the fuel pump died and I simply didn't have the knowhow to fix it at the time, so the car went by the wayside and I purchased a 1994 Pontiac Bonneville SSE.
The Bonneville was a nice car for a 17-year-old with it's many amenities, but I soon grew tired of the lack of power and excitement, so I traded it outright for a 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme International equipped with the 3.4 DOHC V6 (LQ1) and Getrag 284 5-speed. The car was fully loaded with AQ9's, HUD, DIS, ECC, etc. Soon after putting down one of the fastest DOHC 1/4 mile times back at that point (14.8 @ 95.01 MPH), the heater core blew and the old suspension caught up to it, so I decided to take the car off of the road.
I purchased a 1998 Regal GS as a daily driver and for nearly three years, I dumped my blood, sweat and tears into this bastard of GM engineering. It got more money and attention than I'll care to admit, along with some modifications (SLP GSX front/rear appointments, HUD, GP black leather seats, 3.29 gears, headers and plenty more). Around the time the third transmission blew (out of absolutely no fault of my own), I decided to cut my losses and move on.
Ever since I first heard of the Turbo Grand Prix (when I was much younger, we saw one driving down the street and my dad chased after it because we never saw one before), I wanted one. I searched high and low for one when I purchased the Regal, but no one was selling. After said car puked the last transmission, I started my search again. I found one about 10 minutes down the street from me and picked it up, a 1990 TGP, black with tan cloth interior. It was ratty, but according the owner, it only needed a little bit of work. Right... nearly $600 dumped into it, and it's still not remotely roadworthy.
The search continued and a member on W-body PM'd me to tell me that he was selling his '90 black/gray TGP, which was my perfect combination. I ended up picking it up along with a trunkload of free/extra parts. And well.. here the story begins!
Yeah, the clear coat is peeling on the rear bumper. Hopefully I can get them repainted at some point this year along with all the side cladding. The paint on the car is surprisingly nice. This was the last winter the car will see. I hope to have the Cutlass or some other beater up here by time winter rolls around again. The right headlight is cracked (I have a replacement). The driver's seat is also well worn. So what do you guys think of my poor daily driver TGP? Hopefully I can make this baby at least look like it did in 1994 or so! :icon_wink:

Lookin good, Shaun. ;) What are your plans for the car?
The car looks great Shaun. :icon_mrgreen: I didn't realize that it didn't have a sunroof and it's a bit odd seeing a grey interior since most of us are accustomed to the beechwood/tan.
EDIT: Copied/pasted from the w-body board, so I had to change my emoticons. Are you going to get another cutlass or other w-body to swap your engine and trans into or are you going to try to save the car you already have?
So now I get to change my signature on W-body from...
I hate Slick, and he knows why..
to
I hate Digi, and he knows why..
If the economy wasnt so fucked up, I woulda already have bought that car befor anyone else could have.. GRR!!!
Nice car, where are the engine bay pics? I don't know why, but I prefer those over anything else. :-)
nice car

Yeap, I own one...
Going off of the ones I've seen so far, Red/Gray seems to be as common as the Black/Gray, and both are pretty rare.

I've never seen one, but then again I have never seen a mermaid......
I really want a Red/Gray one
Is that carpet original? It seems very dark and I thought that the earlier years (89-91) had the lighter gray carpet, the later years (92-96) had a more charcoal appearance.
Chris, the previous owner on W-body replaced it with some black carpet.
The orignal carpet was beat up, and worn through. I came across this black carpet at a great price (even if fitment was poor, it was still a million times better than what was in there), so I put it in.

Seriously nice car ;)
And the First Turbo Grand Prix has already found a new home ;)
Very nicely maintained, also like the transparent hood effect you used.

Black / tan common?
Black/tan & Red/tan are very common(it seems most people opted for leather, cloth seems to be a bit more rare out of the cars I've documented thus far).
