And wow, did it sound bad, my ABS light has always been flashing since I had the car, but today I actually had the ABS kick in and what a nasty clicking sound it made... :( I can't afford a new unit so idk what I'm gona do... I already need struts and brakes as it is and I still gota finish my other car... dammit I wish I could fall into a pool of money...
They do click and make lots of noises, even on a 100% functioning system.
Mine functions perfectly and boy in ABS mode it really does some clickin, even my dads 93 suburban makes alot of clicking.
ok I thought the clicking was a really bad thing.
Its normal. ;)
its the solenoids clicking as they lock and unlock the wheels.
Ok, I knew there would be clicking this just sounded louder than it normally should have. I did see a 93 corsica at the yard today with what looked like an almost brand new ABS unit, are they the PM3 as well, I also saw like a 92 Lumina with a newer looking unit as well, I was thinking of grabbing one cuz my ABS light flashes for a reason and I am not really sure why. I gota read up on the millions of threads about them one day... :p
The PMIII was W-Body specific, and only in W cars 88-90 (maybe 91 i cant really remeber) had them. After that they have vacuum assist brakes and ABS module, much more reliable thats for sure. So lumina probably never even had a PMIII
Yes, W-bodies from 88-91 had them.
Jim, your light is likely flashing due to a low accumulator charge. When you press the brake pedal, your pump should cycle every 3-5 presses of the brake pedal... How many times can you press your brake pedal before the pump runs? If it is every 1-2 presses, the accumulator needs to be replaced.
