recently ive been running across a lot of cavalier z24's for cheap that need engines or transmissions, and i ALWAYS see 3400s that need rebuilt, & my question is, if i get a 90-92 cavalier z24 that came with a 3.1 alum head, can i swap in the 3400 & run it off of the mpfi electronics & a tgp chip, as well as put a turbo on it & run it up to 7 psi?
also, if i were to do this (id be sticking with the stock bottom end but id put new bearings in or course) what would you suggest i do to the bottom end to make it less susceptible to damage as well as what will i need as far as gaskets & head gaskets? id really like to be able to run 300hp with this-if this is a reasonable idea for a project then i can start getting the components im going to need to get it going (i have 3 vehicles that im getting ready to sell so theres the money for the project :D
What PCM is in the 90-92 Z24?
1227730 or ...727
I got spare's!
yeah, you can do that.
You have the 7730 which is the same computer as me. I have a '91 Z24, running the tgp code. (mine is boosted, but n/a it would still run ok after a tune)
You will still need a 2 bar MAP sensor though, the computer would be flustered if you kept the 1 bar in there.
any specific 2 bar map sensors you recommend?
