Title: m90 supercharger-anyone know cfm with 2.5 & 3" pulleys?- wantin 300hp
Post by: no_doz on April 24, 2009, 02:27:35 AM
does anyone on here have accurate numbers as to the amount of cfm that an eaton m90 flows on 2.5 & up pulleys? i got a buddy who dropped $5k down of $30,000.00 on a brand spankin new 370z- & i have 2 months before he gets back, so im going to sell my camaro & lumina, get a 3.1 sunbird (thats right, a SUNBIRD :D) why a sunbird you ask? look up the weight. sunbirds with 3.1's from 91-93 weigh a little less than a 3.1 z24 & are REALLY easy to find because they are prone to blown headgaskets & auto trans failures. what im shootin for-is to put a m90 on the 3.1 in the sunbird, throw new rod bearings & crank bearings if necessary & if i can find cheap enough rings im going to pay the $20 apiece for the pistons through summit-i didnt realize they were so cheap! now if i can just find the rings... anyways-my goal is to 5 speed swap this sunbird, attach the m90 & accessories-run a chip from everybodys good friend flybynight, and im really hoping to put alteast 300 to the wheels-i see 3.8 iron head shitheads cranking 330+ whp on 3-3.4" pulleys & small things, & with turbo cams & small pulleys they crank ridiculous amounts of power.

anyways what pulley will i need for this 300 whp so i can show my long time friend that built is far better than bought & american is the way to go :D also the sunbird with 5 speed weighs about 2600lbs

i dont realy understand why you would want the custom work involved with an m90 supercharger, but there isnt a good way to flow one unless you have a spintron, so the numbers are hard to find.

what i would personaly do is buy a sunbird, buy a 3400 or a 3500, swap that in with stock pistons and rods, turbo it with 6-7psi, and there ya go...

do some research on www.v6z24.com theres alot of guys running great numbers with little money and effort

Running smaller pulley sizes on the M90 is not as simple as a pulley swap itself. When you're spinning it faster and trying to cram in more air, you're producing a lot more heat. You have to make things breathe better, add more fuel, etc. in order to drop pulley sizes. Also, the 3.1 is starting out with a lot less power than the 3.8. The 3.1 has 140hp naturally aspirated vs. the 200hp the 3.8 has. It will take a lot of work to make 300whp with a M90 supercharged 3.1...Besides that, it's going to take quite a bit of work to just get the supercharger fitted to the 3.1...even if you "remotely" mount it.

Since this has absolutely nothing to do with a TGP, this belongs in the off-topic section. If you're posting anything not directly TGP related, please put it in the off-topic section.

Do you already have the M90? and is it a GEN III or GEN V there is a noticeable difference.  For the 3.1 I would go with a M60 JMHO.

Also understand you shouldn't do any pulley swaps (stick with the 3.8 pulley) until you open the exhaust especially on the restrictive 3.1 exhaust.

this would be with oversized headers, intake manifold porting & gasket matching all around.

Since you are close to sea level there I wouldnt go smaller than a 3.4.

IIRC someone else did this on a 3.1 and they had to cut their hood to fit the blower.  I think It was mounted directly on the top of the 3.1 upper manifold.

There is a guy "Carl" not far from you who has done a lot of work on 60degree V6's over the years.  This was his e-mail blackzo6@yahoo.com.
