Title: Chip price lists and availability?
Post by: stargazer7467 on May 09, 2009, 09:33:28 PM
Did some searching and didnt find anything definitive.

I know that TGPpilot and Jeff M make chips but where are the price lists? Do they have websites?

Got crappy idle and some stalling figured I'd upgrade and fix problems at once.

Flybynite (Adam) can tune your chip to whatever you want or need.. I got my chip tuned by him for my 5spd swap..

Have you checked your injectors at all?? Bad injectors can cause a crappy idle and stalling..

Just siwtched engines/trans, both behaved the same. Some slight hesitation on take off and an abrupt studder right when you come to a stop, sometime it stalls sometimes it catches itself.

sounds injector related.. search craigslist for a local selling stock 5.0 mustang injectors.. i have them in my tgp tgpnick is running them and he states there great.. they flow the same rate.. Change them injectors before you start buying new or replacing other things..

I am thinking injectors are the culprit.  Do they all spray evenly like their suppose to?  Do they hold pressure?

The C302 yellowtop injectors work great in our cars.  About the same flow with our fuel pressure, and its been said that they have a better spray pattern than the stock Multecs.

Jeff M has seemingly dropped off the face of the earth, the only way to get one of his chips if you so desire is finding one used on here.

I personally have Kenny's Hot Tune chip in my TGP and love it.  Kenny sells the Hot Tune chip for $450 IIRC.

Dont you need a 5-speed chip though?

Crapy idle and stalling on two different engines?... sound to me like a vacuum problem or bad map sensor.

Well the map sensor is the same one that came in with the new engine. Tomorrow Im going to check and clean up the grounds and see if i can dig up my fuel pressure tester. I just dont get it, is has to be something on the car itself. The engine, complete with its wire harness was changed. Traded out ECMS and chips. Seems to run better cold however then gets worse as it warms up. Drives fine but the idle sucks, other than the stall on stop the cars does fine. I would love to buy the hot tune chip but I cant justify paying that much untill its going to run fine.

I guess it was a faulty oxygen sensor, is swapped it out with a unit i had grabbed from the yard in the past, a one wire low milage late model. It had the flat single connector so I spliced the old round connector onto it. The stalling comming to a stop has went away and so has most of the bad idle. I will be ordering a new GM o2 sensor monday just to get a fresh one in it.

Not sure how quickly you need it, I found the best price from a store off of Amazon.

you talking about the o2 sensor Cheif?

Also I scored a set of Ford yellow tops and a 100% functional gauge panel today at the yard. Been recently rebuilt. Sticker on it says:

Dayton Speedometer Service
7476 Webster St.
Dayton, OH 45414
800-543-9687

Now if i can figure out how to measure the resistance of the new laser resistors I might be able to repair the tgp panel.

Yes the 02 sensor.  Do a search on here for the PN if you dont have it.

How much for the ford yellow tops? The cluster is that out of a TGP? If there is a TGP at the yard can you go back and get me the thermostat housing? i snapped mine and in need of it as the car can run without it..

the yellow top are for me, just installed them as a matter of fact. I cluster is from a regular GP but i can live w/o the stock boost gauge since i have an autometer installed now. Im going to have a local sticker shop try to reproduce the "intercooled turbo" logo to install on the NA panels so it can be somewhat stock looking.

People are right about the injectors, they greatly improve the idle and throttle response. Only have the almost stop stall to cure now, which i think is in the chip programming.

Ill look for more yellow tops when im at the yard next time for you.

Just added a GM oxygen sensor PN 25162693 to the TGP, combined with the yellow tops the car is doing much better than it was. Almost ready to buy the chip :). New o2 was well worth the $30 and some change for it and it was in stock at the local dealer. Plus the TGP got some good attention at the dealer too, I know the parts guy and he was out in the lot showing it off to the techs, had the hood open and everything lol.

havent decided yet, I would like to have Kennys hot tune but the $475 price tag is very steep. The top gun 160 seems to have better bang for the buck from what Ive read, and for $275 iirc more affordable.

Did you talk to Adam? Flybynite.. He tunes chips and they r really reasonable. He can tune them better than them higher priced chips.

I just get shocked at the 475.00 price every time I read/see it.

All the hardware, software, and an used laptop was under 450.00 and my buddy & I sit there and do it our selves just for price of a pizza and beer sometimes.
