wiring summary from link : Light green and orange wires are cut from tranny position switch and spliced into reverse light connector.
for any of you guys that might have just done this, do you remember what colors they go to on the reverse light plug on the trans? i need to do this before i put the turbo back on. Also has anyone attempted to hook up the shift light? thank for any help.
which plug are you speaking of the gear selecter switch or the plug on the front of the trans? I cant get my reverse lights to work either.. In the gear selecter switch i have a wire hot at all times with key on or off and i dont have a wire thats hot with the key on.. so i just wired my lights to that hot wire.. i just make sure i dont have it in reverse when the car is off because the lights work with the key off.. i think it has something to do with swapping the 5 spd in theres something thats no plugged in to make a connection..
I wired up my shift light but it dont work worth squat.. it does not tell me when to shift and when im in 5th just crusing it comes on even in 4th too.. IDK IDC for it either but its there and work but not properly..
the plug im speaking of is the squre plug about 1 inch x 1 inch where the purple and yellow wire get snipped.
the plug for the reverse lights i thought were right under the linkage in this pict:

yea thats the reverse light plug.. whats the problem that you are having? is it simliar to mine?
I've never seen my shift light come on either, I think i need to change something in the ECM.
As for the reverse light switch, it shouldnt matter which way it is wired.
And with the auto tranny, the reverse lights are wired into the trunk release fuse which provides contant 12v always (always hot), then the tranny position switch completes the circuit to ground when in R. The Getrag from the factory is wired for hot when 'ON' only, so yea if you dont change it then make sure you dont 'park' the car in reverse so you dont kill the battery.

LMAO
I did the pinning of the tan with black stripe for the shift light but it works when it feels.. i dont need it anyway as i know how to drive a manual..
So what has to be done to get them to work with it in "ON" only? also my trunk release does not work so im guessing that has something to do with it since u mentioned that..
Probably a relay using that constant hot, then an ign. 12v switched, add a ground and the last wire to feed the reverse lights.
finally hooked them up and they work, sucks they stay on with the car off . kinda off topic question, when the ebrake locks up and gets f'ed its usually a problem with the calipers right? I ask because i just changed the rear calipers but was hesitant to hook the ebrake back up cause it was havnt trouble disengaging with the old calipers.
no its the shittyl ebrake cable actuator things that stick, i smoked my RR right after my brake job because of that bitch
what part is the cable actuator? by the pedal?
on the caliper them selves, the cable attatches to an arm, that arm is what sized up on me.
cool i have new rear calipers so i should be alright to hook the cables back up, thanks!
