Alright so I bought this car from my father in-law. He put a crap load of money into it, but never tuned on it. I've got parts all over for this thing. With all the stuff I have on the car it still only runs in the 15's. From what I have been reading, it should be in the high 12's low 13's. Heres what I got.
Engine:
Forged lower
Bored .30 over
P&P heads and intake
Bigger valves (Don't know exactly what size.)
9:1 Compression
Comp Cams (Custom ground for the set-up. Would have to look up specs.)
1.6 Rockers
Triple wound springs
165 thermostat
Turbo:
GT28RS T3 Flange .63 A/R
Jeff M Crossover
Stock exhaust no mufflers
Seqentual BOV
E-boost2 Boost controller
Cone on turbo filter
Maxin 13.5 #'s
Fuel:
36# injectors (29# on run)
Walbaro 255 fuel pump (stock on run)
Misc.
Jeff M TG160 (slightly modded)
3 Bar Mapp (2 bar on run)
I have everything to tune with, I just don't know where to begin. I have read alot of stuff, but alot of it doesn't make any sense.
Emulator
Tuner pro RT
Chip burner
Innovate Motorsports Wide band
Does anybody have a bin file thats close to what I have? Then all I have to do is tweak. Does anybody want to help me tune, or live close to KC. Please I need some help.
could it be the stock 1.9 inch downpipe? you have to be able to get the flow OUT before you can worry about getting more IN. Tuning without a doubt will make a good difference but if the engine cant breath as it is, then you're surely not going to fully benefit from all your mods.
Sounds like it would be a fun ride.. ;) As for the tune, lets make it simple. The gt28rs is not a very large turbo so you should be able to use 24-28lb injectors. Without major modifications to the code that 3 bar map is useless, just utilize the stock 2 bar one. I have several tunes for different size injectors/turbos/etc.. I will send you a pm with more info...
Now I know everything you read is not right, but from what I understand the GT28RS turbo is capable of 350 Hp. The 28# injectors are only good for 275 - 300. So to get the 350 I would need at least a 32#. I haven't had this thing dynoed yet, but desktop dyno puts the motor alone at 250+. with turbo I should be able to put 300 at the wheels. Obviously that hardly ever happens, but it gives you an idea.
As far as the exhaust I didn't even think about that. Do I need to rebuild a bigger crossover?
Bigger downpipe. That is what you need to fabricate.
A bigger x-over is not needed, but now that I have a bigger x-over, I noticed I can spool faster, the boost comes on hard, and I have no evident proof of this, but I think my mpg picked up. Could just be the tune.
My x-over is by no means stock anymore either.
I can do that. Has any removed the cats and just run exhaust, or does that create a back pressure issue?
I don't have a catalyst converter and I run full 3".
I am running a t2871r, that is bigger than the t28rs. ;) http://www.tgpforums.com/index.php/topic,5570.0.html
I have 30lb DOHC 3.4 injectors and at 14psi I have no problem getting 11.8 afr all the way up to the red line... I have been tuning the TGP platform since the late 90's. I have also tuned many other TGP's and my experience with the t28 is you only need 24-28lb injectors.. Anything you do to reduce/eliminate back pressure will only help you achieve you hp goals.
I was not douting your skills. That is just what I had read. I will try to contact you this week.
Is there a thread anywhere that'll teach me everything I'd need to know to start tuning?

Ask and you shall receive... :icon_mrgreen:

Start with chapter 1 and keep in mind the 727(tgp computer) is the same as a 730. The 727 is an underhood version... ;)
