Title: Getting excited
Post by: Jonpro03 on January 23, 2010, 09:33:19 AM
Bought some tires for the tgp. The tires that were on there were from 1998!
I bought Fuzion ZRi 245 50 16
I haven't had a really dry road to try them out on but Im super excited because the tires were the only thing keeping me from taking it to the track last year. Now that I think about it, I had probably better replace the boot on the passenger side halfshaft. Its got a tear and it leaking... but besides that, I cant wait! Hoping for a low 14.

Those are decent summer tires but I would keep them away from snow at all costs they sent my 89 into the ditch 3 times in 2008.

Even with the new tires I still have a traction problem. But to be fair the roads in these vids were kinda wet. The first vid I just floored it. Second I played with the throttle until I got traction.

Yea I am thinking most definatly will be out on the 28th with you guys. I still need to check map quest but I'm not worried about mileage. I do need to drop in my comp cam rockers and the 22lb yellow top injectors with in the next two weeks. I just wish I could get a torque conveter in before hand but I'm thinking not. Hope to see you guys there.

I would join in but hell I never get anything done lol!  I probably will just join NTRCOOL there unless I get a rig ready for the track but never hold your breath the guarantee is as bad as my promise to stop buying them!

Just about ready for Sunday. I need to swap out for a new set of wires install a oil pressure guage air up and load my slicks into the trunk. I think I might head down sat night and grab a hotel near the track, because I hate getting up early.

How long of a drive is that for you?

Post by: NTRCOOL on March 24, 2010, 12:28:54 AM
I'm guessing about 4hrs at the most. plus by showing up the night before the car can get some rest before the first big day of the season if you get my drift.

Well I know the area pretty good my buddy lived by the track. There isn't a hotel that I know of in morroco and if there is a place to stay it's not going to be nice at all. This is hillbilly heaven where we r going to be and in the middle of no where. Good thing for me I'm only 45Mins-1 hour from the track.

Weather.com upped the chance of rain to 70% from 40%.  The forecast cant give any specific time though. If its going to rain Sunday night than we'll still be ok because racing ends at 4. But if it's going to rain all day...  :icon_frown:

Damn I hope the rain gets done and over with. Its bad enough it sounds like I'll be working 8hrs on Saturday to top off a already scheduled 48hrs for the whole week. Oh well I hope this pulls through.

Okay guys I found a Holiday Inn Rensselaer In so I have a decent hotel not too far away but I will be keeping a very close eye on the weather. The weather channel page dropped the precipitation to 60% for Sunday. My question to all that are planning on going if it rains do we still wanna hang out some where or just re-schedule for another weekend? I figure we should get the ball rolling on a plan B.

The thing about US41 is, even if its raining, they'll still be open and you can make a run as long as it's not raining at the moment. They've got a couple of blow dryers to dry the track after a rain.
Im waiting until tomorrows forecast to decide whether or not to cancel. Unfortunately, I have to give about two weeks of notice to get a day off. So if we do reschedule, it'll have to be at least two weeks.

So lets say, tentative reschedule date is April 11th. Good thing is, in April they are open between 11 and 4. So that gives us an extra hour of racing for the same price.

We'll see what tomorrows forcast says, hopefully it'll say rain on Sunday night. If it does we will still be on.

Got some bad news. We just got back from the doctor who told us that Sarah could not breastfeed because of her epilepsy medicine. In order to breastfeed, my wife will be switching epilepsy medicines. This process takes about a week during which time she is subject to seizures.

I can't in good conscience leave her with a newborn and a 2yo for a day so I won't be attending this Sundays meet.
I do also have next Sunday the 18th off if anybody wants to put it off for a week. Of course you are still welcome to go without me!
Sorry guys.
