would it be worth puting a 3400 in the STE Turbo and putting the stock 3.1 manifold back on? i know that the ports are smaller, but the turbo could make up for it and im just looking for a touch more power while keeping it a completely stock look, im more into restoring it than power at the current moment...
Depends on what you mean by worth it. If you're not looking at much more power, why replace the 3.1 with the 3400? A chip or turbo upgrade or both will be able to satisfy that.
it is worth it.... ive used one of my tgps as a test bed for this idea. the motor will get pulled and thrown in my 5 speed car later this year.

well id love it if it was as simple as throwing a turbo and chip on the existing engine, but the existing engine has a really hard knock... its actually out of the car now and i plan on tearing it down this summer to see what happened...
I think 3.4 swap and go vintage on the top end. It does drop performance but if you ported the heads and intake it will make up a little for the loss. It would retain an all stock look but at least you would be upgrading. Maybe a T28 hybrid turbo with the right tune would help this too. It wouldn't be a max power setup but it would cover what you seek I think.
wait a minute, im sorry, when you said put the 3.1 manifolds back on i was thinking about the exhaust manifolds... just realized you are talking about intakes? I would never put 3.1 heads on a 3400... if you going to go through the trouble, why take the 3400 heads off and downgrade?
