Well originally I bought my TSTE to take the motor out to swap into my Beretta, but I decided to restore my TSTE (almost done) and keep it. Anyways I found a TGP 30 miles from me and bought the motor, trans, cpu, and other parts I will need for my swap. Before I bought the motor, I made sure it ran, the motor has 150k on it, the turbo still worked and everything which is an added bonus, I will probably build it though. The owner decided to paint it orange, it looks like they painted it with a roller, unfortunately they painted the motor too. I took off the A/C compressor, front and side coolant pipes and alternator so far and degreased it. The UIM, pipes, valve covers, mounts, oil pan, and various other parts will all be powder coated and all cleaned up. I know this may not be directly TGP related, but it will still be an interesting project. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

That engine is ugly!
The car is beautiful!
I ALWAYS wanted to do a turbo beretta
Thanks, I took that high spoiler off a year ago and added a beretta gtu spoiler which is a flush mount spoiler, it looks alot better. All I have to do is paint it. The swap should be pretty standard, just switching over the mounts, moving the battery to the rear, and taking off the abs system (to make room for the turbo), and some fabricating and my Beretta should be good to go in the summer.
Yea that engine is ugly.. Was there a fire? the tranny side of the engine is all black.. Are you using a TGP harness in your beretta? i have one if you need one along with the computer..
No there wasn't a fire. I didn't plan on using the TGP harness, a guy who has done the swap here about 30 minutes from me told me I won't need the harness and that everything plugs back in from the Beretta to the TGP motor. I have the valve covers off and upper intake manifold off now, I'm having problem taking the front engine mount off, that T-50 torx bit does not want to move! I ordered the Crane H-260-2 and the Comp 1.6 rocker arms to give it a little bit more power, as well as the A/C delete pulley. Today I'm taking off the oil pan off, while I'm at it I'm going to install a new timing chain. Tomorrow I'm taking everything to get sandblasted, that include the UIM, both intercooler pipes, side and front coolant pipes (I'm hoping these are solid once they are cleaned up and that I won't have to do any patch work), valve covers, oil pan, and a few other miscellaneous parts. After sandblasting, they're going for powder coating.
That's going to be awesome...
Are you going to run tgp code?
Yes I am going to run the TGP code, I made sure to get the computer from the TGP this engine was in, I'll need to send my chip in to get reprogrammed, which I will eventually get to doing. Here is how the motor sits now.

Is that TGP rotting away or what? That engine looks like it hasnt ran in years!!! everything is corroded and such.. Man o man.. At least its getting rebuilt/ freshened up.. :icon_biggrin:
Yep the engine does start, I started it when it was in the TGP from the people I bought it from, it had around 150,000 miles on it. The reason they sold me the motor and why I didnt buy the whole car was because the back end of the car was rotting away beyond repair. My TSTE behind in the pictures runs great and is just waiting on some fresh paint before its 100% finished.
oh well.. important part is that it lives on in another vehicle.. Hahahaaha
What color was it?
It was red, but they decided to paint it orange. The window trim and all the trim was painted orange as well. It also looked like they painted it with a brush and paint, so IMO the car was pretty much a lost cause to begin with.
WOW! anything TGP specific saveable? louvers? Emblems? Wheels? Etc. Etc.
BTW.. This is the most action this forum has seen in awhile..
The emblems were tossed, the hood was cut open because they couldn't open the hood and they claimed it was froze shut. So they cut the hood open, and installed a GTP (the hood with the smaller louvers) on it. They said they lost the TGP louvers, yep I'm surprised this thread didn't get more attention at first.
it deserves to get crushed..
If you dont mind.. What did you pay for the engine?
I paid $525 for everything I needed for the swap. I figure another $500 in parts and labor costs for sandblasting to finish my project.
good to know.. I guess i should grab the TGP engine i snatched the X-over off of.. He only wants $300 for the engine.. Im pretty sure i can get EVERYTHING with the engine too.. Like the whole engine bay.. The car is smashed in the front hardcore.. The upper core support has a U in it..
Yeah, I would grab it for sure. I need a new vacuum line bracket (the rubber part where the vacuum lines go into), if the one on that motor is in good condition, I will buy it off of you.

The owner decided to paint it orange, it looks like they painted it with a roller, unfortunately
That's not orange, that's the super rare TGP Copper edition engine. 305hp stock.
