Title: Helicoil's in exhaust?
Post by: DefEddie on March 05, 2010, 01:44:19 PM
Just curious,I've taken apart my TGP engine and was finally getting around to working on the heads.
Every single hole for the exhaust manifold has been helicoiled. Have seen slight evidence of engine being touched other than factory, but nothing that wouldn't be explained by McLaren building it instead of ponitac.

Just wondering if they are done that way from the factory. I find it odd that someone would strip every bolt out,and it doesn't look unprofessionally done like a majority of home jobs.

When I have taken the exhaust off of TGP (and other) engines I dont recall helicoils.

If anybody gets a chance check their heads and post up.
Probrably need to shine a light down in the hole to see the tang at the bottom.
