Post by: 89BlackTGP on April 30, 2010, 01:27:12 PM
Ok guys.. Looking for someone that has a Jeff M. or Kenny K. X-over because i need measurements.. I am in the process to start rebuilding these X-overs so there is at least someone out the again that is rebuilding them for the people that are intrested in buying one to replace there leaky one..

Well i need measurements of the bellows that were used.. I cannot find for the life of me what ones they used or the sizes.. So if you could kindly measure one for me if you can get to it id appreciate it.. If you have a Jeff M. or Kenny K. x-over let me know and ill tell you what measurements ill need..

I have 3 X-overs ready for repair, 1 currently that i took apart that had the heat shield was NOT cracked, 1 X-over with a cracked Bellow, and 1 X-over that i cut the bellows off and ready to weld in the new bellows that i cannot currently find..

I can tell you without measuring anything that Kenny used 4'' long, 1 3/4'' diameter 304SS "Epi-Flex" braided bellows with an inner liner. I'm not sure what version of the inner liner his had, someone with his x-over could tell you that. There are braided liners and then that are "interlocking" liners.

Go to this site and hover over/click the pictures to see the difference in the types of liners I mentioned.http://www.verociousmotorsports.com/Shop-by-Category/Flex-Couplings/Vibrant-Performance-Stainless-Steel-Flexible-Coupling

Jeff M. x-overs used shorter inconel bellows that are braided on the outside and have an interlocking liner on the inside. The bellows on the Jeff M. x-over are right at 2.5'' long total length.

Here's an old picture of one of my jeff m. x-overs.

Matt..

Yes, i knew one of them guys x-overs had really short bellows.. I would love to find the shorter ones that Jeff M. used but have not found one thing on them.. They look better and your not trying to cram 4" where it does not fit well.. I NEED to find where he got his supply of bellows and we have another person on the forum making x-overs again.. :)

Some of the larger companies that make those bellows could probably do a custom job for you, but I'm sure that would be pricey with the quantities they would probably need to make to make it worth their time. I think Jeff mentioned having to buy a lot of those flexes in order to get the size/type he used. Maybe he still has some of them, but I'm not sure if anyone has been able to contact him in years. If Jim(idbeast) is still around, he might be able to get you in touch with Jeff.
