January 2017: See my last post in this thread for a large update. The link in my last post only lasts 30 days and you'll need winrar, 7zip, or a similar program to extract the spreadsheets and html documents from the .rar archive I put them in.
Added 53 TGP's to the list today. ;) I'm going to throw together a secondary list of the others I have out-of-sequence as soon as I make sure the vins & options are correct.

Thanks, I didn't have that one yet. I need to get back to working on finding more TGP vins. I haven't went through very many lately. I'll probably try to update the list with all I currently have within the next few weeks.

I had the first one, but not the second, thanks! I have a lot more than is on that list. I've just been adding them in sequence as I find them up until this point. I'll eventually get around to sorting them out and adding all that I currently have now.
the first vin i gave u is my daily driver and the other is a parts car and soon(i hope)to be restored. Is there anything you can tell me about the first car that i wouldnt know?
The link only shows me #s 1-226. Are there other pages that I just don't see in the corner of my eye or what?

I added it to my list in December 2008 and noted that it was in Iowa w/ 124K miles on it, that's all I really know about it.

There are no other pages, it's just the first 226 or so cars listed there so far.
i bought the car in feb. of 2010 and havent had any real problems with it other than the fuel pump and the x-over
Added 43 cars to the list today. I started back actually working on the vin project a few days ago. It'll be a slow go, but I'll update the list from time to time and make a post here to reflect my updates. I expect to add about another 40-50 within the next few days...

Thanks!
Since my last update, I've added around 65 more 1990's to the list.
I believe that when you finally get to mine it should be numbered 1900 out of 2749.
What number are you on now Matt?

I'm working on them and adding them in order, so I'm not far beyond what's already listed online. I think I'm near #400 currently. Seeing where your car is in the vin sequence, I'm going to guess it's going to about around 1,000-1500ish since it's about midway through the total GP production and TGP's were made all throughout.
~90 more cars added to the list.
Is anyone keeping one of these for Turbo STE's? :icon_lol:

I have a small list of TSTE's, but I'm not really actively searching for them. I'll add your TSTE to my list if you have one.
Added 28 cars to the list for a total of 477 online so far.

Thanks. I already have it on my list. That car was for sale in a "salvage" auction at some point. Did it have a salvage or rebuilt title when you purchased it?
guy i bought the car off of owned it since 01 27000 miles said the way he got the car was a friend of his owns a towing business and his buddy towed the car in one day. the owner never came to pick up car so tow yard having no title had to go through those steps to acquire a reconstructed title. i believe this story to be true because i looked over the car with a fine tooth comb and could not find any signs of it bein wrecked. so yes car has a "R" title do you know of any way to get the "R" off?

A car abandoned at a business does not receive a reconstructed title. They would have got a a bonded or abandoned title for it(not sure which or if there is some other form of title, but I do know it would not be reconstructed). For it to have a reconstructed title, it was declared salvage at some point. At that point someone repaired it, got it inspected, and the title was changed to reconstructed. The car had 59,000 miles on it when it was listed as being "salvage" by the salvage auction website that had it listed. For it to be declared salvage, it sustained some kind of damage that exceeded what the insurance company valued the car at. This damage could have been relatively minor since the cars aren't technically worth much at all to insurance companies.
ill do some more research and see what i find. cant think of why it could have been totaled though. been around cars my whole life and know what to look for as signs of a wreck. this car does not appear to have been :icon_confused:

I have about 800 90 TGP coupes on my offline list. ~500 online I think. I'm adding them in sequence rather than putting the entire list online. I still have to go through most of the ones I've gathered from owners to confirm options and such as I've received a ton of wrong information over the years.
I'll make a small update to the list later this month. I have a post over on w-body.com in the TGP section that explains how I find vins with my latest method. Since I'm searching them via C@rfax, I really don't need any more submitted vins for 1990's as I'll eventually figure them all out with my searches anyway. I have no devoted much time to the list in the past 1.5 years. Really time consuming to manually go through literally thousands upon thousands of numbers...
If I get some time and REMEMBER I'll get my Vin # for you. Mine is a 1989 and currently stored in my garage. Current mileage is: 7,034.

*Big Update*
I finally put the lists to spreadsheet and html format. I don't have them hosted for direct viewing currently, but they can be downloaded here: The file size is small, something like 165kb. It unpacks to about 6.9mb and includes the 89 Coupe, 90 Coupe, and 90 TSTE list in both spreadsheet and html formats. All of the lists are technically incomplete, but they're far more complete than you will likely ever see. There are supposed to be 751 1989 coupes, 2,749 1990 coupes, and 1,000 Turbo STE sedans. Those numbers are stated by the Pontiac Historical Society and Compnine also listed the exact same numbers. The totals I ended up at are 734 for the 1989 coupes, 2,740 for the 1990 coupes, and only 200 some odd Turbo STE sedans. The sedan list is so far off because I never got around to running through the list for them. I did add about 150+ cars to it during the course of doing the 1990 coupe list so at least we have that...The VIN program I used quit working before I got around to making my final pass through of the 1990 coupe list. I made it from the 200,000-277,000 range and only added one car I had missed in my previous methods. I also crossed off one car in that range that I had accidentally listed that was not real. Considering I only came up with one car in that large range, I kinda doubt I would have ever produced the other supposed 9 cars made from 277,000 to about 306,XXX.
I need to thank a few people below for their help with this.
Skitchin - Huge thanks to him for automating the process and literally knocking months or even years off of this project.
turbo-v-sick - Thanks for doing all the leg work on the 1989 coupe list! He has also dug up tons of history and photos on these cars that we might not have ever found without him.
ManicMechanic - Thanks for helping with the VIN project and constantly posting pictures and information on these cars making it easier for me to document them. I wouldn't have come across a fraction of the ones you do because I wasn't aware of half of those auction, salvage, etc. sites until you brought them to my attention.
I'm probably forgetting some people here, but thanks to anyone that helped in any way, big or small!
I wanted to turn in the list in a much more complete format but unfortunately it didn't turn out that way. Too bad compnine did away with the several free vin checks per day when my list was still in its infancy. Those were handy in filling out the color and option info on these cars. Eventually I would like to contact them about getting a custom account and have several people help go through and document the vins. That will not be any time soon though. I'm tired of looking at those numbers for now. (http://www.w-body.com/public/style_emoticons/default/tongue.png) I will be lightly modifying the list over time. I have some extra little blurbs of information on some cars I will include in a text document alongside it later. I also want to go through all my old car photos and pull any TGP ones that I documented by vin to upload to a directory to accompany the list. Don't hold your breath on either of those things as it will be quite a while before I get around to them..
I also edited the first post on page 1 with a duplicate of this post for those that stumble across the thread when searching later. By that time, hopefully it will be hosted somewhere here on the w-body page. (http://www.w-body.com/public/style_emoticons/default/icon_biggrin.gif)
Edit: I always forget something. The numbers there by each car are to be taken with a grain of salt. I don't have enough information to say whether they were built in sequence and the case of the missing cars makes those irrelevant as well. The 1990 list up to vins with 277K could potentially be correct numbers if they were built in sequence. I would like more people to report their build dates, preferably with photos of the stickers. Some of the color, option, etc information could be incorrect as well. Plenty of it was owner supplied and I could not verify it with compnine no longer available. If you have any corrections to things there, see any duplicate numbers, or whatever, please shoot me a message and I'll get around to correcting it when I can.
Download link(only good for 30 days). I suggest everyone save a copy so that we can all share it around with other owners later until I can get it hosted somewhere online.
