Title: What kind of tires
Post by: Johnnystats on October 07, 2010, 05:00:17 PM
Hey everyone

Just wanted to get your opinion on what brand of tires I should get for my TGP.  Any suggestions?

I searched online and got a P245/50ZR16. The Z part can be pretty much anything if you just plan on normal driving 99% of the time, and it will save you a ton because not only are the lower-speed-rated tires (The Z is up to something like 186MPH, not that the TGP can reach that without mods [? I wouldn't know for sure]) cheaper, but they last much longer because the higher-rated ones generally have a much softer compound, or, in simpler terms, will wear away much more quickly than normal all-weathers.

P245/50(any rating)R16

I have Yokohama Avid V4S on my TGP and have had good luck with them.  Good traction on wet and dry surfaces, launches pretty well without a ton of wheelspin as well.

I have had good luck with these...

The low treadwear helps with traction but they wear a tad quicker..

I bought a set of Fuzion ZRi's and a set of Aurora H107s. Both really cheap performance tires. I WAAYYY prefer the H107s to the ZRi's. I recommend the H107s. They won't last long though.

X 2 on the Fusions.  Unfortunately they get "caremelized" long before they wear out......frickin Global war on terror!!
