Post by: 90TGP on December 10, 2002, 06:18:23 PM
How much horsepower could be expected from port&polishing our 3.1 heads??? How about a 3/5 angle valve job?

P&P and 3 angle create efficiency! :D

It depends on who does them and if they know what they are doing...
I have a set that Jeff M did for me that flow as well as Gen III heads... but Jeff is not quite ready to sell them yet, so Please don't  flood him with emails asking for them yet...
Title: Port-n-polish

Porting just the exhaust would work wonders(I guess 14+hp, also portmatching the whole intake sys to the heads(prob 3hp). Chamber polish, just the sharp edges around the valves should be enough(no hot spots=no preignition(more boost). I think polishing the chamber till you could see yourself is useless.

Though I wish someone would tell me why gm says to use Iron heads for high proformance.

I am thinking of planing to custom make some exhaust manafolds to run with the turbo on 3400 heads, but who knows.

An estimate of 20hp from a P&P job sounds pretty nice. Any estimates on how much it would cost to have the heads P&P, lower and upper intake P&P, exhaust ports P&P, and a 3 angle valve job?

The more work you do the less the price.  You could pull your heads and send them to the shop and the the price will be half.  I would then let them put in new valves stock or larger, springs, and 1.6 adjustbable rr's, and get new lifters.  You will be revving like a 16v'er  !
