Title: Front end lowering (CUT SPRINGS)
Post by: GPChief on November 11, 2010, 11:27:07 PM
Since I cant seem to find lowering springs and I also cant seem to find any suitable swappable lowering springs I think I may cut my front coil springs.

From the pictures I have it seems that if I cut out one full coil it will be the same as the intrax springs.  So I think I am going to cut out 1/2 a coil and go from there.

Let the flaming begin...

or you can just ghetto fab them springs idk I gots the intraxs my only prob is the dampening since its lowered. I think Koni has something after looking on W-Body.com

That's exactly what I did on my red TGP.  Just slipped in the birchmount and started trimming the front springs until the desired height was achieved.  Ended up cutting off 1 1/4 coil.   FLAME ON   :flamingdevil:

Have cut many springs - (love the Plasma torch :thumb:). Someday late in 2012 I'll finally cut them in the TSTE.

Cut one complete coil out (carbon cut off wheel) lowered it 1 inch with new struts, ball joints, mounts etc, etc, etc.  will see how much it settles after a month or so.

The old struts had almost no oil left, you literally herd a metallic clunk when you released them.

Will post pics of the front in a week or so.
