Good job jarrade, I believe this should open up that TGP, so you can see how these things can perform on upgrades, just try not to do what I did and spend more money than what its worth.

I hope you can send that chip back for a refund because those old school generic(jet or hypertech) do basically nothing.

I hate to disagree with you but i have used hypertech in the past on several different vehicles and have had nothing but good look with them. This is my first time using JET so im willing to take my chances.

WOW  :icon_eek:   For $25 more you could have had a custom tuned chip specific to your needs. From a tuning standpoint you would have been better off throwing your money in a river. JET and Hypercrap only change fan on/off settings, speed limiters, etc. Nothing performance oriented from what I've seen...

Sorry dude but i got what i got. And if you didnt read the other post ive tried hypertech before and had good luck with them and that i havent tried JET yet. Hypertech does add performance and JET is supposed to add so il take my chances! thanks.

I can personally vouch for Adam (flybynite) and his tuning he is actually tuning my car right now and he has in the past when the motor was stock plus he is a good guy! I dont have any experience with hypertech so I cant say anything about that but if you dont like it I suggest Adams chip you will notice it best bang for buck and best service

I dont disagree that hes a good guy or that his tunes are bad i believe that there good. I just dont have money for a tune and i just wanted to get a chip to start with.

I am going to get a chip from this board as soon as I get my car running good enough to justify it!  :icon_lol:

I have built a lot of hot rods and done a ton of swaps and run superchargers and turbos for over 15 years. I agree with the others that the chip you bought probably turns on your fans at 160 or 180 degrees and at most, bumps your timing up 2 degrees. It may give you 5 horse at best. At worst, adding timing into a boosted engine at the wrong time is an open invitation to detonation and burned pistons.

I run a jet chip in my 85 tpi iroc, but it is bone stock and not boosted. I like it for what it is. Just be careful as I have a hard time believing your chip takes boost into account.

Hope it works for you but I was hoping you would have scored a TG160 to start or go with Flybynite.  I sadly agree that those chips will be a generic upgrade, if you can back out I would.

The chip takes into consideration boost. It was specifacally made for the mclaren turbo grand prix. If i dont like it i will sell it eventually and upgrade. Its a starter and im going to take my chances.

I got a free chip from someone and it was great, car went good but It developed a Terrible high idle and crap crap crap mileage, and when you first start it hot it idles REALLY high and then slowly slowly goes down to 1000. Too high. Put the stock chip in, has a 750 rpm idle and decent mileage and when starting warm the idle would go straight to normal. But it is obviously alot less powerful and stalls randomly at stops and when putting it in gear. So im on the hunt for a new chip this spring, i would trust the guys who specialize in these cars only. I DOUBT any big name people would make real chips for these low production cars

If anyone is willing to bring there car here to Michigan,  I know of a great tuner that will dyno tune AND street tune the vehicle live with you there.  Typically takes 4 hours.

1. Do a idle relearn
2. Some folks from this forum, Flybynite, TGPilot, JEFFM, and others are experts on the tune for this car in my book and their prices for chips are reasonable (IMHO).
