Hey guys...I've had the TGP stored up for winter so I haven't been posting lately, but i got a dilemma. The tranny is hurting! She slips pretty bad around turns, and it doesn't like third gear very much. Either way, I know there is a rebuild kit available for the 440t or whatever they call it now (same damn tranny). I was wondering if anyone knows how much it costs, will it work for our turbo specific tranny, and how much work is involved in yanking the tranny. I know its sposed to be a 12 hour job (according to my friend in the auto industry). He wanted to know if its easier to yank the motor too, something about the carriage or cradle or something. Any advice would be great, because as soon as the TGP leaves the garage in March, its getting a new tranny whether it likes it or not!
Yeah, it will take a while if you've never done it before. You will need an engine cradle or some way to hold the engine because to get it out you have to remove the sub frame. You might be able to just take it out with the engine, but I wouldn't say its "easier", but I prefer to take it out the bottom. I think a normal GP is 6 hrs to r&r the trans, the turbo adds 6 hrs to the labor since you have to remove the turbo to get the trans out. Thats why those guys that have gotten some sort of repair for $1000 are doing pretty good. Its alot to get the trans out no matter how you cut it.

Ok....I figured the sub-frame would be an issue...but as to the other part of my question, is there a rebuild kit available? And do u know the price? Thanx man!
