Got a Delkin Devices DDMOUNT-MINI suction mount so that I can get footage from outside the car. Worth the $30 just for how cool it is but you won't be able to hear a damn thing without a proper mic with a good windguard (the big fluffy animal microphone you see in field production). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xAMSHtumW_I
Camera is a Kodak PlaySport Zx5, which is waterproof and shockproof (why I tested with this camera first, hah). But that mount ain't coming off before it the door hinges give, it's STRONG.
My film production elective gave us a free choice for a documentary, but the limit is precisely two minutes so I'd only really have time to go over a little history or whatever; it won't be worth showing off when it's done in a couple weeks, I'm pretty sure.
You know the space behind the headlights under the plastic cover? Works perfectly for the small camera. Sounds way better, plus I found a wool sock to put over it, and that made the wind noise even quieter. I tried both sides, and I like the right better because there's so much more turbo noise when the camera's on the left that you can't hear anything else under acceleration. I'll post a video response soon.
So out of boredom I have now recorded a 20-minute drive with my setup. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DNVe7psnfU&feature=youtu.be
