Post by: marcus18 on January 01, 2003, 11:17:40 AM
whats the matchup there?  My cousin has one and he's talking about it being so fast. how it's faster than the tgp. he was braging about going from
here-----to-----------------------------------------------------here and hitting 110mph so the other day I went to the same spot and stomped it
start----------------------------------------------110----------braking--laughing--stop  now I'm waiting for him to come back down from nc and try me.

I'm guessing it's the newer style V6 Cougar? You'll roast him.

it's the new style. My problem it traction. he has traction control and 10" tires. I have stock tires that roast when I floor it. that brings me to a question. when doing the quarter-mile times do you just floor it or ease into it? is the goal not to spin your tires? or do they help get closer to the rpm with the power? how does that work? normaly I just floor it squeeel
for about 2-3 seconds then take off.
I'm an endless supply of questions

When I launch mine at the track, I power brake it to 1800rpm and at the start floor it and take my foot off the break at the same time, I spin for less then 2 sec. , no wheel spin is much better then spinning tires, my black 90 that runs 14.4's did a 18.64 when the tires spun with a 2000 rpm launch, and spun through 1st, 2nd and most of 3rd!!!  :drinking:
