Title: TGP Trans **FREE**
Post by: #8 SS on June 03, 2012, 10:59:53 AM
I have a TGP trans sitting in my garage that I need gone. I bought the engine/trans combo for a really good price and do not need the trans, but I do need the garage space. The car it came from was running but had front end damage and the owner apparently decided to scrap it instead of fix it. The mileage is unknown. I live near sheboygan WI, my zip is 53042.

Thanks guys!
Jon

Your best bet is to beef up what you have.  THe only other transmission that may work with minimal modification is a Cadillac Allante transmission but I would say just build what you have the Allante has a different final drive and is of the same family of transmissions.

The 4T60E and 65E are but they will need some retro fitting to make them work.  You run a vacuum actuated transmission those are electronic actuated.  Look for the threads through search it has been done before.  For reference you have the 4T60 HD which is just a modified 440T4.

ok thanks for clearing that up....i'm guessing i need to change mine out because it is slipping in reverse.. Forward is all good....i have only 79,000 miles...is there another part that might be stopping it from going in reverse?

You sadly are possibly looking at a rebuild.  If you are losing reverse you will soon be losing the rest.  Reverse is your highest pressure gear.
