Title: Door cleaning and carpet replacement
Post by: Gibby on September 23, 2013, 10:21:34 AM
So when I received this car it had been baking in the sun for quite some time, and the damage was done.

The doors and entire interior were pretty dirty, along with the carpet pulling away and some cracks.  I spent the last week hunting down carpet and fixing the passenger door, I think it turned out pretty good, the carpet is not a 100% match, but it matches my dashmat so I am happy with it.

That doesn't look that bad. I reglued the original carpet to the doors on my car a few years ago.  The glue they used must be inferior to what they started using in 1993 because my '93 has seen a hell of a lot more sun and I've never had that issue with it.

For anyone repairing the original. Remove as much of the dried up glue from the doors as you can.  Some good 3M carpet adhesive will keep the carpet on there for a long time.
