Title: Leaking Rear Proportioning Valve
Post by: sciszek on January 12, 2003, 03:15:38 AM
I've got a question about a problem with my brakes. In about 5 days of driving my brake fluid reservior will drain from max full to just below the bottom of the raised level marker. The fluid is defintely leaking from the rear proportioning valve (PMIII was rebuilt 6 months ago) as there is usually a puddle on the ground in that area. I've read that the rear prop. valve tends to leak but just looking at it there is no visible leakage where the lines connect. But, running my finger over the upper right surface (the angled part) I can feel an open hole and brake fluid. So it seems that the fluid must be leaking from this hole but I was wondering:  is there supposed to be some sort of plug in this hole or does fuild typically leak from this open hole only after the valve has "failed"? I'd just like to make sure I'm not missing something here before I order a new valve.
