Title: Torque converter
Post by: GPChief on January 12, 2003, 07:57:38 AM
Two part question:

1: Will I benifit with a higher stall on the torque converter since I am staying with the auto?

2: When pulling and replacing the motor do I need to turn the torque converter until it "clicks" like on the TH340 / TH400 / 4L68 / 80.

 No, on the higher stall converter, one tranny shop I went to insisted on changing my converter and the car dogged badly, after 3 different converters, I took my old one down and had it rebuilt and also had the Vanes welded in, this made it run like it did before! :D
As for spinning the converter, you always spin it so you make sure the slots on the converter shaft line up, if not you will push the pump through its housing.
