Title: Power loss
Post by: HOLYTGP on January 12, 2003, 08:25:51 PM
The cars engine appears to be all there in respect to power, except when I hit WOT, then there seems to be a hesitation in the car.  The check gauges light is also on, but the scan tool picked up no problems.  Does anyone have any ideas on what to look for?  Thanks

If you have the time and the money, change the O2 sensor, spark plugs and wires, fuel filter. Also have your fuel psi checked.

The check gauges light is a problem with all TGP's. The chip on your cluster needs resoldered.

All the above post are good information.

Leave your foot on the floor board will the engine come back to life and then shut off again? If so thats fuel cut. If not do the afore mentioned. With the check engine light on it usually means you have leaned out or over boosted to make it lean out. Sounds like you got fuel cut. Does the cel come back on after a few minutes.

This happened to me for the first time racing a 300 z. He took off which was unexpected and i was pulling up on him hard when zap my engine shut down. It was fuel cut on an engine with 130,000 miles on it and had never happened before. I put new filter, air and fuel. wires, plugs you name it and could not get rid of it until I put a 10k pot on the middle wire of the map sensor. There may still be a deffiency in my engine electronics
somewhere but this solved my problems. I now run 14 to 15# boost with the tg chip. I still use the pot to avoid fuel cut. I have run as high as 19#
but as the guys say it dosen't seam to add anything.

To run any hp out of these motors the fuel and ignition have to be in perfect shape.

Hope you get it solved.
