Well i got a TGP, and it doesn't run well at all ( knew that before thankfully). I don't really want to start it anymore than i have to, actually i haven't started it all but the guy who owned it before me did to get it on the trailer. Okay, when you turn the key it starts up good. But you have to keep flooring to keep it going or it will die. The exhuast is pure blue and smells like gas. Is it a fuel pump or injector, or mixture problem. It floods since you are flooring it so much. Here is what the guy said about it in a previous post: "The car will start and the engine sounds good but it will only run for about 15-20 seconds before it slows and stops. You can start it again but it'll do the same thing. If I play with the accelerator I can keep it running until it warms up a little and it will usually idle but when you try to take off it stumbles. When you press on the accelerator it wants to die and when you let off on the gas it acts like it wants to pick up." Any helpful hints and suggestions on what the problem might be and how to fix it will be greatly apreaciated. One more thing do the TGP's take 91 or 92 oct. The manual says 92. Thanks in Advance.

Well ii guess i will find out what is wrong with the car next week as i am taking it to the shop to get fixed. I am surprised no one else has encountered this problem, oh well. I do still want to know what oct. tgp's take. Thanks
I always ran 91, unless 92 was available and in some small towns I was forced to fillup with 89.
Did it run good on 91 then when you push it? Thanks
No pinging at all.
The guy I got my TGP from told me all he ever ran in it was 87 octane. He said he never had any problems with it. The day I got it I went straight to the pumps and filled up with 92. Now I run 89 all the time. It runs worse on 92. On 89 I can get an average of 31 MPG on interstate. With 92 I get about 28 on interstate. Would this be from being ran on 87 for so long?
When i was changing my fuel filter today we decided to drain the old gas. My fuel pump shuts off after two secs even if there is no pressure and will not come on again until you turn the key off and take it out and do it over. Is this the way it is suppose to be? What is my problem? Thanks
Okay i replaced the fuel filter, ecm (which did help it learn how to idle), sparks plugs, inspected coils and injectors, plug wires are all good and a still have a big problem. the car seems to be getting enough fuel becuase i had a mechanic put a gauge on it and he got plenty of pressure plus it kind of smells like gas if you rev it so i think its flooding. But the only way to rev it is to puch the throttle in and out quickly, after a few minutes you can hold it in above 2000 rpms and it will go up. Otherwise under that it will kill instantly when you put on the gas. So i need some help. Thanks in advance.
:( The manual says 93 octane alcohol free unleaded only! I've only used 92 octane only on trips were I couldn't get the good stuff with no apparent effects. 78000 miles and going strong!
