Title: are all 2.8L/3.1L 60 deg V6 valve covers the same?
Post by: 1trucavalier on January 21, 2003, 08:31:49 AM
I saw these valve covers from edelbrock listed for 2.8L 60deg v-6 $60 chrome plated.  Does anyone know it the 2.8L camaro (what I am guessing they are for) valve covers are the same or close enough will a little modification to work on my 3.1L.   I just want to know if they will bolt to my head.  The rear vaccume and front pcv are both easily modifiable.

Nope. not a chance. The camaro covers are tall  and have a different pattern. The TGP ones are almost flat, as the head and intake cover most of the rockers.

Since he just wants the front for appearances, a little taller cover might be ok, right ?   Are taller covers needed in order to run 1.6 rockers or a higher lift cam ?

1.6rr's don't require a taller valve cover.  Chris also said that the bolt-up pattern is different with creates a major problem.  The taller camaro valve cover will also not clear the front motor mount bracket so I a stuck with just painting it.  MINE IS FUGLY!

3100/3400/3.1/2.8 not as of now  !   Believe me if they had them I would have them.  V6HO from J-body was going to sale polished 3100 intake manifolds and valve covers but I haven't heard anything from him so I don't know what kinda progress is being made.
Title: fabricate them

How about telling some good aluminum welder to make you ones out of thick aluminum sheets. I always thought fabricated covers looked better than cast made ones. Or you can polish them like you said and drill and tap them for emblems like a bowtie emblem.
