Post by: HOLYTGP on January 27, 2003, 12:56:49 AM
I want to get an after market cd player for my tgp, but everyone that I talk to says that the dont make a dash mount kit.  Does anyone know where I can get one, or if they actually dont make one.  Thanks

Do you have an 89? If so you will probably have to get a 90 radio bezel and a 90 dash mount. The 89's are two pieces.

I got the bezel, but the dash mount is the black casing that also holds the heater controls correct?  How do I remove that piece from my car and the donor?  I have mine wired in, but it sits throught the bezel because I haven't gotten around to it.  Any tips?  Thanks Chris.

Open the glovebox and you'll see 2 screws going up into the dash holding the bezel on. For the drivers side I believe you have to take the panel off underneath the steering column and that will give you access to the screws for that side.

Yeah, I got the bezel off and have the cd player sitting in there, but the problem is, the black casing that holds the heater controls, tape deck and reciever is not meant for the cd player I bought.  I am talking about the whole underside of the dash, the black plastic mold that is attached to the dashboard.  My car had the three part bezel, but I changed it to swap.  But I broke out some of the plastic to get the stereo to fit.  Problem is, I don't have anything to attach it too, so it just sits through the hole in the bezel.  You know how to remove that black plastic piece underneath?

Call Crutchfield!  I know a lot of people don't like them because the prices are a little high BUT, for the service and speed of delivery, you can't beat them!!  I have ordered from them so many times and they are GREAT.  Here is an example.  About a month ago I was doing the same thing you are.  Putting in an aftermarket CD player in my 89 TGP.  I called them up and ordered an install kit but forgot to tell them I had a bezel from a 90.  So when it came it didn't fit right in the 90 bezel.  I called them up and they sent me the install kit for a 90 for FREE, no questions asked.  They acted as if they had screwed up and sent me a letter apologizing for the inconvenience.  I also ordered a relay from them that allowed me to use the factory amp for the door speakers that worked great.
