Title: turbo guage
Post by: blcclark on March 05, 2003, 09:10:18 PM
ive had my 89 tgp for 3 1/2 years now and the turbo guage which goes from -15 to 0 then to +15 has never went up more than a little over zero. Ive checked the air vacuum and nothings wrong. im not sure whats the prob but the car runs good even though the guage doesnt go up past zero. its not stuck on zero though when i turn the car off it goes down to -15. thanx for ant ideas

sounds like something is wrong with the guage mechanism itself. IIRC, the guage should stop on 0 with the key off. Does it normally hover a few bars below 0 under normal driving, or is it very low? As the turbo starts to really hiss, it should be at 0 and then when the hissing starts turning into a sucking sound, it should be into boost. You can only really hear this if you don't have the factory air box.

it may be the device. when the cars off its at -15 and when driving normal it stays below 0. but when i hit the gas and the turbo kicks in i might be lucky to get it up to +5
