... to a regular GP trans?

If someones trans was to get rebuilt, you would assume that the trans place that is doing it also knows about the different parts... right?

For one the valve body is stamped TURBO, as for the rest of the parts, it is stronger to hold up to the extra 75 hp... and no the tranny shop wouldn't know the difference unless the had worked on one prevoiusly, I listened to my rebuilder swear at mine for quite awhile...

since the odds of finding a shop that has already rebuilt a trans from turbo is slim, what info should we pass along to the trans shop to ensure correctness? Do we only trust GM dealers? Is there a GM parts kit for rebuilding?

I bought my 1st TGP from a trans shop.  He seemed to know the trans was special, because he said it needed special HD clutch bands etc.  Plus he was charging $1600 for the rebuild, which , when the person making payments on it heard, they just didn't pick the car up.  He was asking $4500 for it but when I said I'd give him $3000 cash, he took it.  That was 4 years ago and the trans is holding up great. The price of trans. parts has gone up as stated in Jeff M. sticky post on price increases.
