Title: Drilling through floor boards???
Post by: 90TGP on March 14, 2003, 04:34:20 AM
Ok, so I want to install an aftermarket dead pedal [it's a non-movable pedal placed the wheel well to the left of the brake pedal to rest your foot on] into my car. I want it on the hump of the wheel well on the dirvers side.

How would I go about removing the carpet to drill a hole into the wheel well? Is there any electrical things I have to watch out for?

Anyone do this before?

I haven't done what you are talking about, but it would be very easy to move the carpet back to access just the wheel hump on the drivers side. The long trim piece that runs along the kick panel is held in with one screw and then clips. Remove the screw...peel the strip up and you have access to peel the carpet back. Easy as that. You will see any electrical under the carpet once you peel it back... 8)

This is what you will see under the carpet...another photo from the 5-speed project...

The screws that came with the pedals are 4/32 or something very close to that. What drill bit size would you recommend? And do you think the screws would go all the way through the floor board, they are about 5/8-6/8" long.
