I need to find some one that is parting out a TGP or knows of one in a junkyard. The hose coming off of my pcv valve is ripped and it is discontinued by GM. On the non-turbo 3.1 the hose has a 90* bend and goes Straight into a metal pipe. On the TGP it bends 90*, goes about 3", bends another 90*, and connects to the intake plenum. Why does GM have to do stupid shi* like this. Also I need the vacuum line that goes from the throttle body vacuum block to the EGR valve. Discontinued also. As far as I can tell it looks the same as the n/a 3.1 but GM says it isn't. I need to go looking at a j/y. THANKS.
Two possible solutions my friend, depending how far away from factory you want to go.
1. As far as the PVC hose; either just use the saem diameter hose and bend it so that it fits or, get an PCV vlave with the 90 degree elbow already on it then a;; you need to worry about is the one bend on the hose.
2. For the other vacuum line where is it cracked / broken? I have known several people to just slide a larger pice of hose over the broken vacuum line part & wa la - its fixed!
Thanks alot twalt! You just made me feel like an ass. I can't believe I didn't think of using a different valve for it. As for the vacuum hose I don't know if that will work. The very end of it is torn, the part that slides on the EGR valve connection. I'll figure something out. Now I found another one torn. It's the one going to the waste gate from the turbo. The end on the turbo is torn. I can't stand people that don't take their time when working on a vehicle. The previous owner had things so messed up on this car. I have just about all of it straightened out now. Thanks for your help twalt.
Didnt want to make you feel like an ass
The same hose was torn on my turbo, I took some silicone hose (Green, my trademark - from a kit I had for my 97 GTP) and cut a 2 inch piece of the wiper hose and connected it from turbo to the plastic piece. I then "zip tied" the two ends to ensure proper fit. It works just fine.
The little help I provide on these forums is miniscule compared to the help I have received fro the likes of JeffM & idbeast, Have even called them at home in crisis situations. These patriorchs provide guidance and helpfullness like no other car clubs I have ever been a part of. This is a great community with some great cars, yes admittedly the cars are maintenance heavy but very rewarding when running right.
Case in point, I had a miss that I coldnt track down to save my life. With the help of idbeast we tracked it down. A bad motor mount caused a bad ground that made an injector go bad, on top of that I found my upper intake was loose (three bolts finger tight causing a vacuum leak). Mon I'll get a new injector and my STE should run better than before, been gong on 5 cylinders for a month now.
I'm done ranting now. Peace!
