Title: Best Place To Get A Thermostat
Post by: The Burning Rom on March 24, 2003, 10:58:00 PM
Well....I called the local auto parts store today and asked them if they had 160 degree thermostats for my TGP and GT, but they had no idea that there was such a thing. They didn't even have 180 degree thermostats for them. :( So what's the best place to get a 160 degree thermostat for the TGP..and GT if anyone knows. Thanks! :)

Hypertech doesn't list a thermostat for the 3.1 Turbo on their site.  Does anyone know if the 2.8 thermostats (the ones they list) would work in the 3.1?  Are they the same size?

Umm....wouldn't Jeff have them since he list them on his kits. I think he would sell them sepreate, but I don't know the price for them. I too will need one soon. I was going to look at a Chip programing company for one too.

The 2.8 t-stat should be the same since the lower intakes are identical between the 2 motors.

I think Jeff's T-stats are $15 when you buy the TopGun chip. I'm not ready to buy the chip right now though. Does anyone know if he sells them seperate??

And Hypertech does have 3.1 t-stats. I don't see any 2.8 t-stats though...not sure where you're seeing them.

180*degrees...thats ok..but I am in texas...its hot... my cars fans cool great,,,but my car has no stat since the stock ones suck...it cools too good, that means no heat during winter...I need that 160 for the hot summer days and good heating on coold days.   Maybe I am too gready.

I'll prob check on those 180 hypertech stats.
